Local dishes with friendly locals

Waited til there was a night with a band playing to eat here. We truly loved the atmosphere, the food, and the music! Our waitress was awesome also! We had the zydeco salad and fried gator...that salad was sooo very good! I only wish they had homemade dressing for the salad. It was definitely prepackaged ranch. Yuk. But if we... More

Went here at lunch to get traditional Cajun Food. You could order off the menu but we decided may be just as well to get the Buffett. I should have known better.....but hey....my friends thought we could save time since we were traveling. Wrong....Very disappointed. Everything was fried and tasted the same. Even the butter pecan cake they had for... More

Service was good, food was good but not great enough to make me want to go back again real soon, though I would probably give it one more try.

Service was very friendly and very good! We shared the seafood platter which was definitely enough for two! The bread pudding was awesome! We certainly enjoyed the music! We were there early in the evening but it was not too busy. Also it was a tuesday evening. I'm sure that it is more lively on the week-ends. Fun place to... More

Food was bland, gravy was canned and had hardened on the surface. Very mediocre meal and definitely would NOT return or recommend. The mashed potatoes were absolutely tasteless--the worst I have ever eaten. Not worth $10.00--in fact, not worth eating even if it was free.

To be honest we went for the live Cajun music rather than the food, which was just as well. The music was great and goes on until 10pm with only a short break, the musicians really earn their money and made for a wonderful evening. The service is slow, we had about an hour wait from ordering (to be fair... More

We went there on a Friday night and the locals were out and dancing. Lee Benoit and his family played Cajun music. We ordered the grilled catfish but they fry it first. It came with a stuffed potato which was ok. If you want to feel the local flavor this is the place. I would not go there for just... More

Great small-town joint. Delicious crawfish and local Louisiana beers. We were there on what I would imagine was an 'average' Wednesday night and there were French speakers and lots of locals. My girlfriend and I split the Cajun seafood platter and couldn't even finish it. Frog legs and catfish were exceptional - much better than the stuffed shrimp/crab. French fries... More

I was curious about this restaurant since it occupies the old Mulates. It's still as beautiful as ever but boy has the food and service changed! The waitress acted like we were bothering her and although her service was bad and the kitchen was super slow, nothing was worse than the food. Nothing! Up until this visit, I thought it... More
