pleasantly surprised!

We had our dinner in the Oyster Bar because the view of the lake was beautiful. Our waiter, Harold was very attentive and our food was just as we requested. The oyster on the half shell were fresh and delicious. Our dinner was very tasty. This is a very casual restaurant that is family friendly. We... read more

Good live music and dining on the water. Best if you are in a boat and dock. Good food, fresh and friendly service.

Tunk's has been around forever. The crawfish are great only if you get the spicy hot.Regular is bland. Salad bar is always good. Relaxed and you can almost always see someone you know if you are local. I can't get seafood like this here in Florida where I presently live. I sure miss Louisiana and the wonderful, friendly southern people... More

I love Tunks and go there often. Sit inside the restaurant or go downstairs and either eat outside on the water or in the Oyster Bar and listen to live music. Fish and turtles and a flock of Canadian Geese hang around the docks looking for handouts. Locals tie their boats up at the dock and order drinks and meals.... More

I have to say I have only eaten here once, but I found the experience lacking in many ways. First of all my friend and I were brought into a back room and placed against the wall instead of near the window. I noticed that moments later another couple were seated at the window. Sad we could not see the... More

I was directed to this restaurant by a friend and appreciated the referral. This is a good local restaurant and it is apparently quite popular with the locals. I came in for the "mudbugs" and a bowl of gumbo. The waitress was quite friendly and I was delighted to find that she was quite knowledgeable about the beers they had... More

I had heard this was a great restaurant for a date night near Alexandria, but I walked away rather disappointed. I got the Snapper Pontchartrain and was expecting an outstanding plate of fish topped with cajun crab, but instead I got a somewhat soggy fish fillet with a decent creamy sauce. I can't say the dish was bad, but it... More

My wife and I visited some dear friends from Alexandria, LA. They wanted to do dinner and I said I wanted a local joint so the took us to Tunk's. It's located on a lake, it has a dining room, an oyster bar with live music and dance floor, and then a deck on the water. We sat on the... More

We tried Tunks by recommendation of our real estate agent, he had warned us it was pricey but well worth it. He was SO right! The food was some of the best I have ever had and though entree prices started at $$ it came with a nice small but very fresh salad bar & roll . I had been... More
