Sunday Lunch at La Carreta

Got to the restaurant around 1:00 PM on a Sunday, the place was about half full. Waiter got our drinks and appetizers out quickly. We had the Taco salad with chicken, chicken was tender and flavor full. We also had the combo burrito taco and enchilada (the La Bamba). Enjoyed it, will get it... read more

Atmosphere is nice here. Service was excellent, never had to wait for a refill. Chips and salsa were very good. Our table ordered four different entrees and everyone loved their food. I got the taco trio with the shrimp taco, Al carbon taco and the barbacoa taco and really enjoyed them all. My daughter got the tamales, one of her... More

Great patio great margs great food great time. This is the place I want to be on a fall or spring after work happy hour. Two for one margaritas and a great atmosphere- a fire pit if there's a chill in the air.

After a long week of work we first headed to superior grill but the wait time was 40 minutes so we headed down the street. Margaritas were good. I have had better chips and salsa. Ordered nachos as a meal. They were ok. I glanced at the dinner menu before I ordered. I thought the were terribly expensive. Not a... More

I had not been here in 2 years due to a below average food experience but decided to try again, being in the neighborhood. Although the outside looks old, the inside is clean, sparkly fresh and quite a nice festiive atmosphere. Our hostess was extremely pleasant and prompt; our server very accomodating and attentive. But, the food was below par.... More

My experience was ok...nothing special. The service was great, very attentive. Although the waiter didn't remember who ordered what. The food was ok I guess, for TexMex. Nothing special at all. It's not one of those restaurants that I must go back to.

Got there too late for lunch....so had to order from DINNER menue. Was amazed at how small the portion was. One Qeusadilla shell cut into 3 pieces, a handful of beans, little bit of rice. Tasteless. I said something to the Manager and his response was 'if you order it as an Appetizer you get more'. It USED to be... More

I ordered the Taco Salad and water. My friend ordered and enchilada plate with margarita. My taco shell was fried beyond recognition and dripping in grease. I wish I had a photo of the shell- it was unbelievable. The beans were the worst I've ever had at a restaurant and everything was topped with low-quality mozzarella cheese and low on actual... More

This location on Government Street recently completed a wonderful renovation with patio dining in the back of the property so you are not exposed the all the Government Street traffic. Great margaritas and wonderful ceviche. The freshest fish in the tacos and they don't use Tilapia but Mahi Mahi which is much better. Our waiter was wonderful and spoke great... More

One of our main Go-To's when we want to eat well in baton rouge but don't want hoity-toity. Food is excellent, prices are very reasonable. Kids love the chips and salsa, which I also find excellent! Check it out. Con's- location.
