My husband and I have visited the George O'Neal Road location frequently. They greet us when we walk in and there has never been a wait of any kind. I am stuck on the Beef Merlot Medallions in mushroom sauce....it comes with 2 sides....I order the creamed spinach and the potatoes....(mixed with cheese, bacon bits... and something else...it's delicious). My... more
I went to Portabello's with some hesitation after reading the reviews on this site. I was however, pleasantly surprised and have now gone back a second time. I asked to speak to the Manager the second time I was there to tell him of my hesitation due to this website and he thanked me for taking the time to talk... more
This place is decent, but certainly not one of the better restaurants I have been to. I heard that they are part of a prisoner reform program and prisoners prepare the meals. Regardless of who prepares it, it's just not that good. more
My wife and I strongly urge anyone tempted, to stay far away from this restaurant. After the first fifteen minutes our order was taken by a young man that had no interest in serving us since we were never asked if we wanted drinks, bread or anything. Another server came over later, seeing we had no drinks and took care... more
One of the best places close to LSU. The food is very tasty and the service is solid. Ask for bread and have them mix the oil dip for you. The chicken and sausage gumbo is cest bon. The sensation salad (a Baton Rouge creation) is wonderful. Ladies love the chop chop salad. The Eggplant Napoleon appetizer is a must... more
Incredible, traditional Italian food and unparalleled service in a “hip” fine dining atmosphere more
The food was very good, but it took over a half hour to get to our table. By the time we got it the plates were hot, but the food was lukewarm, so it had obviously been sitting out for a while. Very rarely saw our waitress, we had our appetizer plates stacked up on the edge of the table,... more
Visited Portabellos with my family on a Thursday night. Since we only had 1 hour for dinner, placed order as soon as we were seated. Took 10-15 minutes for bread to be brought to table. After waiting 35 minutes, we asked for food to be boxed since we could no longer wait. Used a coupon and then was charged automatic... more
Portabello's is wonderful. Try the Polo Pizza. The gumbo is great and don't forget the sensation salad. When they bring your hot loaf of bread to the table, you will begin to see why the locals love this restaurant. The Lee Dr location is a little better than the George O'Neal but both are can't miss. more
