Great "locals" seafood restaurant

When people travel to or thru Baton Rouge they always want to know a great place to eat seafood. Parrain's is one of the best we have to offer. The fried shrimp is the best I have had anywhere.

We had eaten here once before when passing through Baton Rouge. Liked it so much we made it a point to stop in again on our way to NOLA for Thanksgiving! The food is AMAZING! The chargrilled oysters were mouth watering! Seafood gumbo was great!!! As well as the thin fried catfish!! My husband had the ponchatrain which was wonderful... More

My wife and I recently visited Perrain's. I loved the décor and the layout. Depending on where you sit, it can go quiet or noisy, extremely public or somewhat intimate. The wait staff is adequate and knowledgeable about the food selections and appear to enjoy their work. When we were there in early November, we avoided the fried foods and... More

It's not great: the service is spotty and it's often really noisy. The food is good but not great. Parking is bad. But for a non-fried seafood dinner in this part of town it's a decent choice. (Both Acme and The Chimes do better fried seafood.)

Very good food and atmosphere. I have never had to wait for a table, but at times its good to get there a little early. The portion's of food are usually more than one can eat. I recommend it.

We were looking for boiled seafood. Kinda the wrong time of year so this place ticked off most of our groups seafood wants. Oysters on the half shell were good and even though the place was packet they came quickly. Nice slight twist on chargrilled oysters unique and good. I think the Barbequed Drum won the best dinner prize. The... More

We had the Tabasco and mustard marinated catfish and all the fixxins. Our waiter was great and definitely pointed us in the right direction by suggesting the Friday Special. Only complaint the parking lot is tricky to get into and the restaurant is off the street so watch for it or as an out of town visitor you might just... More

I'm not sure why it's receives so many high ratings but it's an ok resuatsnt. The chargrilled oysters are ok and you get lots of fried options. I've been once and won't go again unless I have to. I'll say go to Acme instead.

You'd think that with the Acme Oyster House practically next door on Perkins Road, Parrain's would step up its game to provide a quality seafood experience. You'd be wrong. Judging from the number of cars I always see in the parking lot as I'm driving past it, there are folks who like it, and maybe some of them can give... More

What a great cajun seafood restaurant. We stop there any time we are driving from Texas to the east. We actually time our leaving home so we can make either lunch or dinner at Parrain's. Great food and the restaurant has a number of rooms where you can sit and enjoy your meal.

Thank Tac0kid
