Wife and i stopped in for quick lunch on Friday 1/23/15. Service was good, my marinated seafood salad was good but my wife's warm duck salad was EXCELLENT. I would rate the wine by the glass list a little expensive, but salads were reasonably priced.

Ate here on Christmas Eve as our schedule did not allow any time to prepare a meal at home. Restaurant was very busy but we were made to feel welcome. Staff was very upbeat and friendly despite having to work on Christmas Eve. I had the seafood crepe for the first time but it will definitely not be the last;... More

Open Thanksgiving Day. We found another gem in Baton Rouge that we plan to return to on our next visit. I enjoyed the crabcakes for a starter and The Marinated Seafood Salad with Lump Crabmeat, Gulf Shrimp for my main course. The diners at the next table had the traditional turkey dinner and gave very good reviews. The Louisiana Lust... More

There's "just" something about French Market, everything comes together to make a wonderful dinner. I love the dim, warm atmosphere...exposed brick walls/wood beams...so cozy. Great waiters. And the menu provides for enough options to appeal to whatever you craving, be it a simple bowl of crab & brie soup to sea bass to a filet steak. Wonderful bar and wine... More

The grilled red fish is absolutely divine! I picked the lyonnaise potatoes and grilled asparagus for my sides. The fish comes on a bed of pasta with tiger butter. The portions are huge so I had plenty of food to take home for lunch the next day. My cousin opted for the filet and she raved about how pleased she... More

Eggplant appetizer was lovely, but entree (regular dinner menu item) was a disappointment. Lovely small piece of sautéed grouper, perched on a bed of grits overwhelmed with gouda, over a bed of raw dry (no dressing, no sauce, nada) arugula with a few strawberry slices. Elements of the dish did not blend. Pre-baked bread presented soft, pale, under baked. Undistinguished... More

Though I had been before, since moving to Baton Rouge 5 months ago, I have been able to visit the French Market Bistro many times. Absolutely love it. Love the atmosphere, the staff and of course the food. The chef does amazing grilled fish, always with some great seafood topping like crab or shrimp. The steaks are fabulouse--love the little... I admit, I did not go to the restaurant but was served a French Market Bistro salad while spending a spa day at Le Roche Bleu. I ordered the grilled chicken spinach salad served with blue cheese, candied pecans, grapes and green apples with a heavenly dressing. I had 4 choices for lunch and so glad I picked this one... My first time at French Market Bistro- I had no idea this restaurant was hidden in an area so close to me. Service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and they have a full bar (that's everything to me :-) I had a salmon and potato entree-it was fabulous. My husband had the daily special of a (I think) grilled... More
