Lunch at French Market Bistro

Wife and i stopped in for quick lunch on Friday 1/23/15. Service was good, my marinated seafood salad was good but my wife's warm duck salad was EXCELLENT. I would rate the wine by the glass list a little expensive, but salads were reasonably priced.

What kind of "bistro" can't even cook a steak? This is the worst restaurant in Baton Rouge owned by Mansur's that also has gone terribly downhill. This was without a doubt the WORST and most expensive ($175 for two) meals I have ever had in my LIFE. If you had told me that anyone could use ingredients of the quality... More

The cream of brie and crabmeat soup was excellent, and went very well with the fried shrimp po-boy that followed. The waitresses were all very young, not necessarily knowledgeable wrt questions about the area or the menu, but otherwise very attentive, quick, and very pleasant. We've been there 3 or 4 times, and still have not sampled one of the... More

This restaurant was a delightful treat on a rainy day. The brick walls gave the space a warm and cozy feel. The cream of brie and crawfish soup was exceptional. The sensation salad was sensational. A lovely pinot noir accompanied the meal. Sadly too full for dessert. The service was pleasant and efficient. I didn't expect much pulling into the... More

One of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge! I always forget about this place. Their seafood salad is killer! Wine selection is outstanding and the atmosphere is very quaint. You'll come back time and again.

Our group of 15 has scheduled a spring lunchtime meal at French Market Bistro for the past three years. We've never been disappointed. I've also eaten here several times with my spouse at dinner, and with a friend for lunch. All experiences have been very satisfactory. Today my order included Creme of Brie With Crabmeat Soup and Warm Crawfish Salad.... More

Was there New Years Eve 2014. Waiter made numerous mistakes. Was there again in February 2015 different waitperson made numerous mistakes AND was slow. Spoke to manager he helped for a short time but then he did not seem to care. The food however is good.

Ate here on Christmas Eve as our schedule did not allow any time to prepare a meal at home. Restaurant was very busy but we were made to feel welcome. Staff was very upbeat and friendly despite having to work on Christmas Eve. I had the seafood crepe for the first time but it will definitely not be the last;... More

Open Thanksgiving Day. We found another gem in Baton Rouge that we plan to return to on our next visit. I enjoyed the crabcakes for a starter and The Marinated Seafood Salad with Lump Crabmeat, Gulf Shrimp for my main course. The diners at the next table had the traditional turkey dinner and gave very good reviews. The Louisiana Lust... More

There's "just" something about French Market, everything comes together to make a wonderful dinner. I love the dim, warm atmosphere...exposed brick walls/wood beams...so cozy. Great waiters. And the menu provides for enough options to appeal to whatever you craving, be it a simple bowl of crab & brie soup to sea bass to a filet steak. Wonderful bar and wine... More
