Great steak

We were taken to Doe's by family members who eat here often and say it is, in their opinion, the best steak place in Baton Rouge (even better than Ruth's or Flemming's). I'm not sure I would agree. First the positive ... Our hand-cut steaks were huge and perfectly cooked (cooked exactly the way... read more

Went with other family members that have eaten at this restaurant. Went on Saturday night @ 7:30PM. Ordered the 1-1/2 lbs T-Bone. The filet side was cut out!!! Unbelievable! Service was good. The steak was ok but not as good as I thought it would be for the price you have to pay. Sides were ok! Nothing to write home... More

Hi Tommy, Thanks so much for coming in and giving us a try and taking the time to write a review. I'm so sorry you were disappointed with your steak. If the filet side is 1.25" or larger, it is classified as a Porterhouse. If it is smaller, it is a T-bone. I hope you will come back and see... More

We went out in the pouring rain to try this place during restaurant week. Because of the nasty weather, we expected it to be empty. Boy,we're we surprised! The place was full and a line waiting. First let me say that my husband loves steak and is picky about the preparation. He said this was the best steak he had... More

We ate here on a Saturday night at 7:30 or so. There weren't many folks there. We ordered the hot tamales, which came with chile. They were not in husks but wrapped in paper, they were very good. The salads were limp and scrawny. The 2 1/2 pound porterhouse was super great. My wife likes filet and I like strips... More

Reminds me of Tuscaloosa's Nick's in the Sticks. Casual steak place with a lively atmosphere and a limited menu. The tamales were delicious and reasonably priced, so I highly recommend ordering some to share with the table. Steaks are ordered by the pound (most are big enough to be split between two people). I felt like my steak was over-priced... More

This was my second visit to Doe's in BR. Again, the food was really good. Steaks cooked to temperature just right, huge steaks made to share, really good sides, and the fried biscuits to kill for! We had the 2.5 pound porter house medium rare and fed four hungry adults easily. Very casual atmosphere with college kids waiting tables. They... More

If I had not had steak already on my mind, then the tamales would have been my only entree. I had read that they were very good but since I am not a fan of tamales to begin with...?? So we got a few as an appetizer. YUM!! I could have eaten a dozen BUT we has also ordered a... More

My fiance' was in the mood for a "good steak", he'd been talking about it all weekend. We happened to be in Baton Rouge for the night and he apparently saw this place on the Food Network so we decided to try it. First of all .... when I saw the prices I was ready to leave!! Against my better... More

Go to a reputable butcher and buy a strip steak, heat a cast iron pan in the oven (500 degrees), 4/5 minutes a side. Why in god's name would anyone pay these prices for not even that high quality beef. And the worst sides ever. Can't even cook potatoes. Bad. This must be a joke, for these prices.

I have eaten in a lot of steak houses over the years but Doe's has to been at the top of the list! The steak was exceptional....cook perfectly. They did not have my type of beer...I was asked what I liked and then they brought out a match...wow that does not happen much. The service was great and how much... More
