We had always heard this was a good place to eat but were very disappointed. We had very poor service, faulty charge to our card and below average food. Everything was incredibly greasy and the hot brown was by far the worst I had ever had.

We went for dinner based on the restaurant's reputation, and overall found the experience disappointing. Food was variable - the seafood gumbo was excellent, as were the fried green tomatoes, the fried chicken, and the potato soup but the pulled pork was separated too finely, the hush puppies were terrible, and the various fried foods tasted like they had all... For our first night in Springfield, we went to Mordecai’s on Main Street. We each enjoyed the seafood buffet and a tasty sandwich. Our waitress was very entertaining. All-in-all, a good place for a meal.

Mordecai's is named after President Lincoln's father. Located in an old grocery store. They have outdoor dinning but the inside is more convenient to the buffet. I have ordered off the menu and done the buffet, the food is good not high quality but good. The catfish is very good for catfish and the burgers are good. The potato soup... More

We were visiting Springfield while we did the Bourbon Trail. We stopped here on a Friday night on a locals reccomendation. I was with a party of 4 and we were seated quickly. I ordered the Catfish Dinner with mashed potatotes. Included with the meal was all you could eat salad bar and soup. I got a bown of the... More

The food was average at best. But it was obviously the place where all the locals gather. Lots of fun, despite the mediocre food. Make reservations if over a weekend or holiday.

Okay the first time I went we had the weekend buffet. Way over priced for what it was. The second time I ordered Catfish it took about an hour to get food and although the fish was good everything else was luke warm. They did give us free desert because of the wait. Some have said the lunch buffet was... More

Went to Mordecai's last year for Valentine's day and many times before but will not go back. They have the buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. The prime rib was over cooked with no flavor, the shrimp was soaked in grease and nasty, the ribs were dried out with no taste and the crab legs were not worth the work.... More

Enjoyed the good country cooking at this restaurant. In particular, the fried catfish was delicious and not greasy. My friends said the fried chicken was also very good. Rolls were very flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive. We will return.

My party of 8 had lunch here today. Everyone had the buffet and raved about the fried fish, BBQ ribs and warm rolls with cinnamon butter. No one had any complaints about any of the food. Service was fast. The buffet w/o a drink was $9.60; a very reasonable price for a full meal including dessert. Everyone in my group... More
