Growing up in Shelbyville, I have eaten at Claudia Sanders many times. It is a great place to get a quick lunch, big dinner, or have a banquet. They food is good ol' southern cookin. Just try it out, not too crowded on week days!

We had seven adults and four children in our party for a special event. It took forever to get our food and had to ask for drink refills when our glasses were empty. The waitress apologized and said they were really busy. I got the Hot Brown and was extremely disappointed with it. The salad wasn't even good. A few... More

When I moved to KY about 4 years ago, all I heard was how I just had to go Claudia Sanders for dinner. It is historic, hasn't changed in 100 years, etc etc. It took my almost 4 years to finally go but recently we did. Portions are sufficient. I am not the smallest of guys and I left "full."... More

The down home hospitality was as wonderful as the chicken livers..... The only complaint would be the portion size.........TOO BIG AND TOO MUCH! I am originally from Shelbyville and when I come home to visit, we make our stop at "Claudia's". The rolls are to die for and the fried chicken was endless..... This is a have too. Don't forget... My sister was visiting from Florida last weekend so I suggested Claudia's as she had never been. The dinner rolls are to die for! The buffet was very good although they need to keep more hot, fresh fried chicken on the buffet. They never put out enough white pieces...seems like you always have to ask for a breast or wing.... 8 side dishes to go with the all you can eat, and every side tasted great. Of course they ask, would you like dessert, but you will be too full. Other menu items looked tasty as well.

The fried chicken was good. The sides were bland and the vegetables were canned. Tomato soup was frighteningly sweet, like dessert sweet. Canned Pie filling with a little piecrust square on top is not cobbler. Biscuits were tough. Our server was sweet and attentive and it's a cute historic place.

Great rolls and tea. The vegetables were from a can. The mashed potatoes and gravy were good along with the service

This is the place the Colonel built for Mrs Sanders to run while he went on the road hawking his chicken franchises. Rebuilt about 10 years ago after a major fire it is a sort of place noted for it's comfort food. We were fortunate enough to be there for their Sunday afternoon brunch. The rolls were delicious and be... More

I need to eat gluten-free, and it was impossible to get any information on the food (side dishes and salad dressings) from the hostess or the server. The salad bar was good, but the rest of the food was just average.
