The atmosphere at Grey Goose is very nice. The interior is a reuse of an 1800s apothecary. Fabulous wood and authentic decor. Of course the food is very good, but the house-made dessert is what would bring me running back.

This restaurant is now the Grey Goose, which is also located in Midway and Lexington. After having had lunch at the Midway location, I tried the Paris location for dinner. The tossed salad with roasted chicken slices was good-sized and fresh. Good selection of beer, including draft beers, but the wine list is so-so and pretty much limited to California... More

Grey Goose used to be an ambitious, upscale restaurant, Varden's, that enjoyed an excellent reputation for fine dining but did not succeed. Grey Goose is the downscale successor. Less ambitious with sandwiches and pizza along with some fancier entrees. Our meal was very good and we found this to be the best of the rather limited dinning choices in Paris.... More

This is a nice restaurant in a nice town. My wife liked her steak and I enjoyed the Greek pizza. The Stella Artois was cold and served in an attractive glass. Overall this was a very pleasant experience.

The shrimp dish was so spicy and this was not mentioned in the menu. We were very disappointed since we couldn't enjoy our food. There was only 1 other table of dinner guests. This should have tipped us off on a Saturday night that something was wrong.

I would actually rate this restaurant a 4.5 stars. We were honestly hesitant to visit this restaurant, why? I'm not sure, but we definitely made the right decision to try something new. Atmosphere: 5 star. The location is in downtown Paris and the décor/atmosphere fit perfectly with the town. The exposed original brick and beautiful old hardwood floor mixed with... More

Vardens is not currently open. The word on the street is that there is soon to be an exciting new incarnation of an established Bluegrass eatery "at Vardens" -- meaning the beautiful location at 509 Main Street in Paris. But I'm not an official representative, so it's not up to me to say. In the meantime for lunch, Main Street... More

Thank goodness that "doctor" is gone. It is getting back to the old days when things were GREAT! The flash and style are still missing, the new owners are very nice!!.....We will still miss Steve!

We had the pleasure of dining at Vardens on the evening of Sept 28 and again on the 29th, and highly recommend this restaurant! Outstanding, innovative menu; prompt, friendly and just-attentive-enough service (not intrusive, but always there when they should be to refill drinks, offer dessert menu, etc.), and fabulous atmosphere, particularly on the patio at the rear of the... About one year ago the Lexington newspaper had a review of Varden's in Paris, KY, that we kept as somewhere we wanted to go one day. That day came, admitedly one year after the review, and UGH! Here is our observations 1. We were in this restaurant from 11 - 12:30. Not one other soul came in. What does this... More
