I would definitely get the Reuben wrap again, it was the special for the day. The decor of the place was pretty cool, very small town atmosphere. I'd go back again.

While staying in Owensboro, my family and wanted to try local places. We actually started out at a restaurant down the street. However, when no one waited on us, or even acknowledged us after ten minutes, we left. And, that is how we came to the Bistro. So, glad we did! The sandwiches were outstanding!! Even my picky eater agrees.... More

My boyfriend and I went walking downtown one day and saw this little gem and decided to go in. We didn't really know what to expect but we sat down and got a couple salads and they were amazing enough to make us want to go back. The next time we went for our anniversary and every bite was amazing.... More

We first ate here a few years ago when traveling through to southern Kentucky. The food and service was the stuff of dreams. We couldn't wait to come back. We made 7:00 reservations for the Wednesday night before ROMPfest for ourselves and four friends. The restaurant was busy, but I was disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm and warmth of... More

We used to live in Owensboro and loved this place. It still had it's cool vibe and the waiters were very friendly but unique. We only ordered apps and they were so-so. This used to be a very yummy Greek place and it's still good just not as good as I remember. Love the tables with pictures though!

As a traveler who loves to find the great local flavor hot spot, the Famous Bistro stood out as we walked the main sidewalks in downtown Owensboro while we were in town for ROMPfest. The place greets you with sidewalk dining then step inside to an inviting atmosphere. It's a small, cozy place with a bistro feel. I ordered the... More

Hoping to avoid the chain restaurants on a recent overnight stop, we noticed lots of activity at a café-restaurant in downtown Owensboro. The setting was casual, but the menu had no burgers! Instead, the quite varied menu featured organic or near-organic and local produce. We had a very fine dinner of dry-packed scallops, fresh asparagus, perfectly-grilled salmon, excellent sauces and... The server recommended the Salmon Pita and Southwest Turkey wrap. The salmon was amazing with lots of fresh dill and a dreamy white sauce. There are lots of up and coming restaurants along this newly developed river town that are good too. But Famous Bistro is a downtown classic that is consistently great.

We had an hour for lunch, luckily we were within walking distance of our meeting. The food was outstanding, the service was sllloooooowwww. I wasn't offered a refill on my ice tea. The atmosphere of the place is great. I'd like to try it again some day and see if they handle a lunch rush better. There were plenty of... More
