I have lived in Newport for 6 years. When I have "one of those weeks", I treat myself to Mitchell's. Friendly, clean, close and delicious! Yeah, it's not an "eat there everyday" type of place but, when you DO eat there, you will not be unhappy about the choice.

We love seafood, so after the aquarium, we decided to eat here...(now that I think about it, odd choice for a seafood place)! HA! Mitchell's had the look and feel of a 5 star "fancy" restaurant, but the atmosphere was a really nice family restaurant with plenty of "kid" options (kid menus, triangle-shaped crayons, and nice views of the river.... We decided on Mitchell's for a birthday dinner. It was a last minute plan but staff at Mitchell's was extremely courteous and helpful in our getting a nice table to fit our needs. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. We had a very hard to please party. Each person left happy and impressed.

We have dined at Mitchell's a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed our experiences. Our most recent dining experience was something of a disappointment. There was nothing wrong with the meal or the service; yet there was nothing noteworthy about it either. My husband had the cedar plank salmon and said it had little to no... More

Great staff they are very attentive. Now for the food the salad was good with homemade ranch dressing. The wild salmon is the best fish and was grilled to perfection, also served with fresh steamed veggies. Butterscotch ice cream made the night!

Service was excellent, staff was the same, food was very good, prices are about average for this type of place. We had a variety of different dishes and all were cooked perfectly and presented very well. We would certainly go back.
