A dive, but clean and pleasant. Staff is good. Long and short--authentic Mexican food for cheap. No frills, no food service filler or ore made stuff. Just great, all around. Have a tamal!

Hidden little gem in the heart of Newport, KY. Not much to look at on the outside (blink and you'd miss it) and spartan inside, but the food is fresh, authentic and delicious. Not one of your beans-rice-burrito on a plate types (you know what I'm talking about). Feeling adventurous? They almost certainly have something you've never tried. One of... More

Great food and price. This is not much on the outside but the food is excellent. The staff could not have been nicer. I love eating in this little restaurant. They have a grocery in the rear.

Stopped in to buy some horchata in the grocery store and stayed for lunch. Horchata in the restaurant is refreshing. All dishes were well prepared and traditional. Good selection. Excellent salsa. Looking forward to a return visit.

This food was by far the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had the flag enchilada with beef, chicken and cheese. Wonderful... The chips were the best ever along with the salsa. Very friendly staff. Can't wait to visit Kentucky again, just to eat here.

The food would likely have been been much more enjoyable had it been served hot. Both my wife and I got the Flag burrito with shredded chicken and both were cold (not warm) on the inside. The flavor was good and had they been hot, I would have rated the experience much higher. Our server was very polite and my... More

So...when my wife and I go on road trips we like to find hole in the wall local Mexican places. Well, La Mexicana didn't disappoint. Not only was the food fantastic, but the waitress (Christina) was a blast. The portions are a good size, and the prices are great. We will definitely be visiting there again on our next trip... More

Absolutely delicious, authentic Mexican food. Great prices, lovely staff and the ability to mix and match dishes. We went twice and we'll be back. Thanks Christina.

If you want to cook your own there is a grocery behind the restaurant. Not many menu choices and probably a single combination special, but really good food. I don't normally bother with the salsa served with the chips, but the chips were so good I gave the salsa and try and it was both cool and authentic. You get... More
