We made reservations and arrived early, but still were seated promptly. It took our sever awhile to get to us, but she was apologetic. Extensive wine list and bourbon choices. My husband ordered strip steak with sweet potatoes and he absolutely loved it. I ordered the bourbon glazed salmon with pasta. It was fair. The bread sticks tasted like day... More

Thanks for your feedback. We very much appreciate your comments & hope you'll come back another time. If you like, you can request a table away from the jazz band for a more quiet dining experience. More

This place has impressed me over and over. Its price point is dead on, it's dressy enough for a nice dinner but laid-back enough not to be pretentious. They manage a nice balance that I don't think local foodies give it credit for. Recommended.

We joined another couple for dinner at Varanese, and generally the experience was very pleasant. Our server, although not terribly attentive, was usually available when needed. The chef/owner is striving to present some innovative and varied regional fare. The menu is quite ambitious given the size of the restaurant. A complimentary plate of four bruschetta arrived at the table with... More

Thanks for your detailed review. We really appreciate hearing from our patrons. I will point out the the croutons are supposed to be soft, as they are made with Polenta. Otherwise I will certainly pass along your feedback to the chef. We can always improve! More

We were visiting from WI and picked Varanese for our only dinner while in the area. We're so glad we did. The food was fantastic. Our server, Anna, was professional and a pleasure to speak to. The live music was relaxing and made it a perfect night. If we ever make it to the area again, we will definitely go... More

Had another wonderful dinner at Varanese. We have been there several times over the years and each time it is as good as, if not better than, the last time. The flavors and food pairings always deliver. Walu dish this past time was spectacular and the quality of the ingredients could not be beat. Varanese is becoming my favorite restaurant... More

We had 9:00 pm reservations on NYE and had to wait about ten minutes to be seated, not a big deal on such a busy night. We were seated by the door, though and it was quite cold. The band (although, very good) was loud, but we didn't mind - just something to keep in mind when visiting... the overall... More

There are many great restaurants in Louisville but after tonight this is my favorite. The pork chop and salmon was out of this world. The server was excellent and explained the dishes very well. He was attentive and friendly. We will definitely return

Had dinner here Sunday night with a group of 6 family members, food and service excellent. My wife had a salad special and the chicken ravioli, I had the stuffed grape leaves appetizer and almond crusted corvina, the sweet potatoes served with the corvina was the best I have ever tasted, don't tell my wife, the only disappointment was the... We had nine for dinner and the place was packed. Still the service was very good. My scallops and lobster ravioli was terrific and the avocado crab starter was delicious. 3 piece combo played. Totally festive. A little crowded and noisy but it was NY eve after all.

Fantastic experience last night at Varanese; Brie with caramel sauce, butterfish and a 60 day ribeye. Great service...well managed even though the restaurant was packed...thanks for a memorable evening.
