Had a delicious meal, a great time to talk with friends and enjoy jazz all at the same time. Varanese is one restaurant where couples can talk and the noise level is manageable.

My husband and I wanted to have a special dinner in Louisville, which was our last stop after touring the Bourbon Trail. What a perfect evening! The open air seating under a deep roof, the fun little neighborhood, live (but not intrusive music), and my husband finding a limited-edition, can't-be-found in our hometown Pappy Van Winkle bourbon on the spirits... I'm so happy you enjoyed your meal and that you had fun on the Bourbon Trail. The Wagyu beef is really something everyone should experience at least once, don't you think? Thank you for sharing your review. More

Incredibly friendly staff, even John Varanese chef and owner came out to check on things! Outstanding, flavorful food. There was also a small band for entertainment.

We were on the road for an extended period and just wanted a light meal. Varanese has a great variety of salad and appetizer choices that fit the bill perfectly. Two salads, a fantastic lentil and lamb soup (very lightly curried, not at all spicy but YUMMY) and an appetizer left us feeling full and yet not overwhelmed with food.... More

What a great place to have a nice relaxing dinner. Heirloom salad appetizer was delicious just the right amount of balsamic dressing. Stuffed crab avocado also well prepared and tasty. We chose steak for our main course. The flat iron and strip were done perfectly. The brussel sprouts were delicious as was the parmesan risotto. The bar is a great... More

What can you say about a restaurant where the owner comes to your table to ask if you enjoyed our dinner? We started with the Cheese Spheres -- AMAZING! The service was first class. The food was delicious. There was even live music (soft guitar and upright bass) which added a nice touch to the dining experience. We loved the... More

Really had a nice date night! Started off with Brussels sprouts as an appetizer (it's listed under sides in the menu). The pecan encrusted goat cheese salad is also great! The shrimp Seviche is pretty good, but heavy on tomatoes and light on shrimp. GREAT live music and street views. Good place for 35+ crowd especially.

Four of us had dinner here and arrived around 5:30 pm to a mostly empty restaurant. By 6:30 it was packed, standing room only. I found service a little slow but that could be because the the crowd. I had the fried-green tomato salad because you don't get that where I am from. It was good and more than I... More

Do notmiss this restaurant! All courses. . From appetizers to mason course. . Full of robust flavors. Service was attentive, patient and not pushy nor ignoring. Then after 7 pm there was Jazz band. John Varanese, the chef& owner, was very accessible earlier tonight and shared his thoughts on his cousine.

What a wonderful dining experience! To begin with, we had forgotten our Garmin and were having a hard time getting the phone and car gps to work. So, we just called the restaurant. The hostess and manager guided us there through two phone calls. The hostess seated us and was so genuine as she seated us, highly recommending the bread... More
