Had dinner here last night, was celebrating a friends Bday. They offered us a complimentary persian salad and hot pita bread. The food was amazing we all ordered the lamb chops which came with a huge side of saffron rice and a yummy greek salad. The chops were so tender and seasoned to perfection. The food was served really fast and... More

Saffron's has evolved a bit over the years with an expanded menu and updated, lovely decor. As soon as you walk in, you know you're in a nice place. The food is always phenomenal, but never too heavy or excessively seasoned. From the occasional Duck specials with Pomegranate reductions, to the Rack of Lamb house special to my favorite, simple... I held a business meeting during the day in downtown Louisville and simply searched surrounding area for a restaurant and found Saffron's. Persian Food. So I convinced the group of 7 to try it. WONDERFUL. Before we even ordered they brought a plate of some sort of salad type plate that had no dressing or oil. Wasn't sure what to... More

We dined on a recent quiet Monday evening with only 4-5 other tables filled in the house. The room is generally quite elegant, but hosts a few unfortunate paintings on velvet that can spoil the mood somewhat. (Note that they are carefully NOT shown on the restaurant web-site's photo Gallery.) Service was prompt and attentive. When our server found that... More

We visited Saffron's a year ago on our last trip to Louisville and I write a rave review. Clearly the best Persian restaurant I've ever enjoyed (including Iran). This time, though, the lamb was grossly overcooked and, although the waiter apologized, the restaurant or chef didn't do anything about it. No offer to take it back and no credit. It... More

The restaurant is small and unassuming from the exterior. In addition, the interior has some horrible velvet pictures hanging on the walls. That is the bad news, everything else was outstanding! Service was amazing and so was the food. It was different and delicious. Order the lamb special, you will thank me later. Order from the Middle Eastern wine list.... More

The portions were generous and the food very well prepared. The braised lamb was superb. It was tender, flavorful and presented well. The sides, salad and rice were perfectly done compliments to the meal. Our party also shared hummus and eggplant spread. Both were also very well seasoned. It was quite a pleasant surprise to find such a jewel of... More

It is a place to enjoy a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere. In the midst of busy downtown but only special taste go ro enjoy. The rack of lamb is seriously the best in town and the lamb shank is delicious. The menu has other excellent items but keep some appetite for the persian ice cream. The owner is... More

I am so full, I can hardly type. We just ate the most delicious meal in a restaurant you could easily walk right by. From the busy street, it's hardly noticeable, but step inside, and you will be transported to a a quiet, elegant atmosphere. I ordered the seafood stew; my husband asked our waitress (Elle) what they were known... More

On our visit, the restaurant was mostly empty. It was a little early on a Friday evening, and there were a few live music acts bein featured in and around Fourth Street Live, which is a few blocks away. This restaurant is a bit hidden almost in Downtown. It's on a major street, but a little out of the way... More
