This place is great. Hole in the wall, no frills. The restaurant is dark and dingy, but in a way, that's what gives it it's charm. We go to Checks every time we come to town. And the only two things I ever order are the chili and the cheeseburger. I never change my order because it's that good. I... More

We found this after another bar recommended it as they weren't doing food. It was round the corner from our airbnb and was a real neighbourhood cafe. It appeared to be full of local people and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was quite buzzy even though it wasn't full but it was a very laid back place. The... More

Check's is a great place to come for lunch, dinner, or drinks...large variety of beers...food is always good. Fish sandwich is great and enormous. Onion rings and chili are reliable too. The only thing I have ever gotten here that was disappointing was the German potato salad...no flavor and not good....(strange since it is in Germantown!!)...but, everything else is always... More

Low key, old time bar with tasty food and a variety of beers. Friendly staff and a vibrant atmosphere.

Layed back friendly atmosphere and great food. We had an assortment of meals at our table from fried chicken, roast beef, fried pork chop, and hamburgers. No complaints and everything looked and tasted wonderful.

I had not been to Check's in years. We stopped by for lunch & had a great time! They have updated with lots of TV's & bball games but the food is still the great pub grub I remembered. The clientele is more mixed as is the neighborhood, younger now. You should differently "check" it out.

My hubby is a coupon guy and he had one for checks so if we go. I had never been but he used to go when he worked in the area. The burger, club sandwich, and onion rings were good. The German potato salad was not like my grandmas so I was disappointed. I saw the fish and will order... More

Good atmosphere, especially to watch a game. Went for late lunch over the weekend. The chili was only okay and I probably won't do it again (I like mine with more chili powder and flavor), but the fish was great!!!! Great flavor, crispness, and it was huge!!!! It was 2 huge pieces for 1 sandwich. Great value. It had been... More

This place is an institution because it hasn't changed in many years. It's fun if you remember that most menus and decor have been updated and that for the most part that is a good thing. Good burgers and good prices but nothing special. It is an authentic local bar and if that's what you want, you won't be disappointed.... More
