You just don't find these kind of places any more. Real people, real food, a real neighborhood atmosphere. Hope Louisvillians realize what a treasure they have here. Walk to the bar, order your food and beer from Cathy, pay your bill and soak in the real Louisville. The menu, written on a grease board, features a little bit of bar... More

You would not expect such an excellent selection of food in this place just by looking at it from the outside. It looks like any other corner neighborhood bar but the kitchen has maintained a LONG tradition of hot and fresh food. I've been going here since I was a kid and always look forward to the Cheeseburger and Fries,... More

This is a friendly neighborhood, Schniztleberg, that serves a big variety if food, some German, but mostly American bar food. Really a fun place, great beer selection, good sandwiches and even rolled oysters as good as Mazzonis used to be. We were there on Karaoke night and the place was packed. We like lunch there a lot too. Recommend Checks... More

This old tavern has been here in Louisville's old Germantown neighborhood for many years and has changed very little in that time. If you are looking for the best brats, bean soup, chili, fried fish, etc. you have ever eaten this is the place. We come here a few times a year from our suburban home on the outskirts of... More

My wife and I ate here on a busy Friday evening. We ordered at the bar and got a table where we could watch a number of tv's. In no time our order arrived. The burger was hand pattied, not frozen, juicy and delicious and my grilled tenderloin was to die for! Great tavern food, service tops and very fair... More

Ate lunch here on a Wednesday @ 12:30. I love the atmosphere of this local icon. Whether you're in a business suit, or shorts and a t-shirt you fit right in! Our group, 5 adults & 2 kids, had an assortment from bratwurst on rye, rueben sandwich, cheeseburgers, club sandwich, fries and salads. We all shared and agreed-the food was... More

Had out of town company so we had to take them to enjoy Check's. If you want someone to enjoy the best Germantown bar/ restaurant in Louisville, this is it. The food here is always the best quality and served fresh and tasty. They offer several daily specials and their sandwich list is quite long. It even includes fried Bologna... More

Order at the cash register, and when your order comes out of the kitchen, the server calls out your name and brings the food to your table. We both had the fish sandwich. The amount of fish is amazing, enough for two or three sandwiches. I asked for an extra bowl to share the butterbean soup with my husband. My... More

Great eats, great beer, great people, home town atmosphere. Older than dirt and clean as a whistle. It says I have to use a 100 words.. why, the place is just great.

I am sooo glad I found this. It will be on my list for any future stops in Louisville. Nothing fancy, just a great neighborhood pub with good food.
