Lovely Dining Experience

Lovely dining experience! Food was great! Service was amazing! Learning about the history of the restaurant and the hotel an added plus. Definitely a must do when in Louisville. The only miss for the meal was the sorbet.

If you lost the draft lottery in the late 1960's and you were not a future President or Vice President, then you got drafted. From there it was off to basic training in places like Fort Knox, KY. Then a few weeks later you found yourself getting off a bus in downtown Louisville near the Brown Hotel with $97.00 in... More

Dear Guest, Always great to hear from a past guest from years ago. Good to hear that the hotel is as wonderful as you remembered. Our hotel history book has many stories of Fort Knox soldiers staying at the hotel before heading overseas. Please let me know when your travels bring you back our way and I'll block a nice... More

A group of eight of us enjoyed dinner here and we had no trouble hearing across the table. The setting is elegant and quiet. The meal was wonderful and the menu had a nice variety of options.

I don't normally treat myself to such a fine restaurant but this was worth it. The service was impeccable. I had the "Hot Brown" and it was delicious. A small appetizer was brought out which happened to be kangaroo done in a corned beef style. I mean, when will you ever get to try such different things. Reservations are recommended.

I have never had a bad eating experience at the English grill. The food is cooked to perfection with some unusual choices such as the Bison Rib Eye. Fell in love with the cream of fennel soup. My husband is always impressed with their wine selection.

The food here is FABULOUS. Nothing we got was a disappointment. There were four of us and we had salmon, Branzino, (Mediterranean sea bass), lamb, and duck. All of the entrees were so good. The sea bass had orange in it. For dessert we had "chocolate strip tease" which they start on fire at your table. Wow. So tasty. It's... More

Now here's a place that knows how to dress up. It's a little stuffy, but the fare really is delicious.

We ate at the English Grill at the Brown Hotel for my Birthday dinner in December. The feel of the room appealed to us, but then we are from Britain, so the wood paneling and horse prints on the walls was all very familiar to us! The meal was delicious, I had the Hot Brown which I loved and was... More

I rate it average as a fine dining restaurant, very good for service, very good for food, average as a fine dining experience. First, the decor hasn't changed in forever. Not that it's a bad thing...but it appeals to more of an older crowd I suppose, decor-wise that is. decent lighting, lot's of warm, dark wood and trim...antique-ish chandeliers. If... More
