Good German Food

Good German food from a family run restaurant. Overall it was good. I was disappointed in the spatzle as it seemed so similar to the dried spatzle you can buy in stores. It did not taste homemade. The rest of the dinner was good. Service was good. Place was packed.

My husband and I dine here 3-4 times a year. While the only authentic German restaurant in Louisville, they don't take advantage of the fact and food is always over the top. Dessert is mandatory, made on sight. We appreciate and respect the article about how kids should act in restaurants at the front of the menu. Make reservations 2-3... More

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. Love the family who runs it and the food is amazing. My favorite around the holidays as well. A Louisville must and you need reservations!

I visited Gasthous for the first time with family. They had been a few time, but I had never joined before now. Great atmosphere, good servers and excellent food. I had the sauerbraten and the Apple strudel for dessert. The sauerbraten was tender enough to cut with a fork, potato salad was excellent. The apple strudel was served with ice... More

I can not say one bad thing about the food. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. They lost a star on my part because we had reservations and had to wait almost 45 minutes. The waitress said tables were moving slow. Problem is it seemed no one in this restaurant could have cared less if we were sitting... More

I've gone to this restaurant for years, multiple times per year. I have yet to ever have a less than perfect meal. Everything on the menu is delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic. As a date night location or a place to bring clients, it's the best!

What an unbelievable experience. Wait staff was exceptional. The atmosphere was so fun. The food was unspeakable. And the desert was to die for. We have lived in Louisville for 4 years and this was our first time at Gasthaus. Needless to say, they made advocates out of us and we will be back! Recommendations: Jäger schnitzel spaetzle Stroganoff ***Strawberry... More

My wife and I decided that we wanted something different for dinner; so why not do german cuisine? We had read and heard how good this place was. When we got there it was packed..the hostess told it would be a twenty minute wait we were seated about ten minutes. Love the decor of the place it has little cottages... More

I suppose you could get into the kitsch of this place, it would help if the food was decent. I ordered the stroganoff because the menu described it as having beets, pickles and mushrooms in the sauce. There were, in fact, mushrooms, but pickles and beets? Nowhere to be found. When I asked the waitress I was told that "they're... More
