I visited Gasthaus with two friends on a long weekend trip to Louisville. I was in search of a specific German beer which is unavailable in my home state; I called Gasthaus and was told they served it, so our "Where should we eat?" conundrum was solved. WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE. Not only did I get the beer I was... More

Gasthaus makes authentic German cuisine from scratch, including some of the best desserts. They have both a standard menu as well as seasonal specials that often change every week. Loved the Atmosphere and accordion music. Also have a good list of German beer and wine. Small restaurant but handled our group of 11 and everyone loved there meal. Will definitely... More

We had heard such great things but our experience was AWFUL! Our "new" waitress was completely unaccommodating and the food was so tough, it was inedible. Every small request was denied. Potato pancakes? It's Friday, we won't make them. Veal too tough to eat? sorry, sometimes its tough. They could not do it and would not. Really?? To cap it... More

My wife and two children stopped by for dinner June 27 in Louisville , Ky. Every request I made of special food items, like potato pancakes , was met with a stern look of bother, a check with the owner/ chef in the back kitchen, then a reply that my request for something simple like a potato pancake would ,... My son has been asking us to go here for over a year. He dined with some friends and said it was the best. Well, it didn't disappoint at all. Everyone of us raved about our different dishes. Dinners were some of the best food we have had in a long time. We've dined in Rome, Paris, Florence, London, NYC,... More

Stopped into dinner on a Saturday evening with the 6:00 pm crowd. Food was very good - Goulash for my wife and chicken a Itzel for me. Both were tasty and expertly prepared. Service was strained. Greeted promptly when menus were delivered but didn't see anyone for 20 minutes. Other than that was a very pleasant experience. In and out... More

We attend the NFMS in Louisville annually & look for good places to eat in that area. For the past 3 yrs (2012-14) we have included the Gasthaus as one of our annual stops. I have spent a little time in Germany & love their people & food. I'll eat German cuisine whenever I can. The Gasthaus serves great German... More

My family goes to this restaurant about once a year and I love it! It is a little expensive, so we usually go for special occasions like birthdays. And you will need to call ahead and make a reservation. My mom is German and grew up in Germany, and she has tried other German restaurants in the area but is... More

Fabulous authentic German food from the beer to the strudel! We have eaten at quite a lot of German restaurants, but this was by far the best in food quality as well as ambiance. Service was spectacular. We would love to go back again!

Took my wife here for her birthday and the experience wasn't so great. Anyone who says that this place is a family restaurant has got to be kidding. The food was good, but if you have kids you are better off going elsewhere. This place is anti-kid big time. The menu has newspaper clippings of how parents need to control... More
