Found this place on a business trip and it was unique, eclectic, and not to be missed! Had the salmon - best I've ever had! Will be back every chance it get.

My wife and I ate here for lunch. I had the Papadzules which was pork and cheese enchiladas covered in a pumpkin seed sauce and a fried egg. My wife had the Huevos Motuleños which was tortilla chips covered in chorizo, tomato sauce, fried plantains, and fried eggs. Everything was amazing. Very good food at this place. I only worry... We frequently stop in Louisville on regular road trips to visit family. Have eaten at many of the top reviewed restaurants. Mayan is a new favorite. The food was fresh and unique. Service was great. They were packed after 8 on a week night. Only downside was it very loud, poor acoustics and the ceviche was a bit too salty.... More

Given the choice of traveling to Louisville or Nashville for a concert, I choose Louisville. Why? The Mayan Cafe. The food here is so interesting and delicious that its worth a return visit (we ate here twice this time). Enjoyed black bean cakes & empanadas for appetizers. The salmon entree and lamb tacos with homemade corn tortillas were outstanding. My... More

Bruce Ucan always amazes with his creations. I believe the Mayan is, hands down, the BEST restaurant in Louisville. Nowhere else can you find such a unique menu and presentation. Quaint and subtle, the Mayan Cafe always impresses.

It's been a long time since we've enjoyed such an amazing dinner! The chicken liver Salbutes were a fantastic opener. My rabbit melted in my mouth! We've never tasted such delicious lima beans or churros! We would drive from Cincinnati to Louisville just to eat!here!

If you want a change from mainstream cuisine, this restaurant is a great choice. The chef has developed a menu with interesting flavor combinations, evidently authentic Mayan tastes. The place has been packed every time I've been there, so I recommend calling ahead to make reservations because it's a fairly small dining space. Even though they're busy, the wait staff... More

Wife and I ate lunch here after the Forecastle Festival. I've worked in Guatemala and Belize for years, studying the ancient Maya. I've spent time in Yucatan as well, traveling for work and pleasure, but haven't been in some time. Most of the dishes on the menu are classics of Maya cuisine from the region, and are true to the... Small, unassuming cafe that has amazing food. Huevos were to die for. Salputes (pork, salmon, rabbit) were wonderful. Do yourself a favor and order Lima beans.

Perfect every time. Lunch there often and dinner is always excellent. The server has always given detailed choices, important for me.
