Best restaurant in NuLu

If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out. This place has such a good reputation, even many of the chefs at the restaurants near it consider it their favorite in the area. That's saying something. Also, it's an amazing value considering the price point.

The Mayan Café is becoming a favorite. Most recently had a lovely lunch. It took a little longer than usual for our food to arrive but when it did we decided it was worth the wait. The dishes have a unique spin and are full of fresh ingredients. The presentation is beautiful. Portion sizes are ample. The wine selection is... More

Great dining experience! All of us had a different type of tea and all were extremely refreshing. The food was unique and cooked to perfection!

We LOVE Mayan Cafe and we go often. Our visits always leave us with the satisfaction of an exciting, different, delicious meal. The menu is full of interesting dishes and there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is laid back and casual but who says people in jeans don't deserve a great meal? Certainly not the Mayan Cafe!

My family and I have been enjoying this restaurant for several years. We consistently have excellent food, service and an overall superb experience. We love the wine and food menus.....both are unique. Also, the prices are very reasonable. When we are in Louisville.....this restaurant is one of our go to places. We highly recommend the guacamole appetizer and the burger... More

One of the tastiest meals I have had in recent memory! Had the special which was a spaghetti squash toss with various other veggies, pepitas, a very tasty but light enchilada-type sauce and queso fresco. SOOO good. Everyone else loved their dinners too: a braised pork, Mayan salad with jicama and a burger. The only reason I didn't give it... More

I visited the restaurant at the recommendation of a business associated, and I am glad I did. We had the scallop ceviche and empanadas for appetizers - some of the best I have ever had. The burrito with pork was very good, although I will skip the sauce the next time. The place has unique flavors and items in their... More

I first want to say that I we had a wonderful time at this restaurant with very good service and the food tasted fresh and had some interesting flavors. I don't want someone from out of town thinking this is the #2 restaurant in our town, however. The lima beans were flavored well but undercooked. We had the vegetarian burrito... More

Visited the Mayan Cafe early on a busy Saturday night with friends. We shared the guacamole appetizer ($8) which tasted good, but was a fairly small portion. For entrees, I had the famous pork and lima beans and my wife had the veggie burrito. We did not order drinks, but the spirits menu looked appealing. The service, food, and prices... More

When I traveled to Louisville in November 2014, I did a lot of research on TripAdvisor to find the best local restaurants to dine at - especially, gluten-free friendly restaurants as I have celiac disease. The top-rated restaurant was the Mayan Cafe, a Yucatán/latin style restaurant with authentic cuisine and locally grown, organic ingredients. The Mayan Cafe was also walking... More
