I visited the Mayan Cafe for a business lunch. The food was outstanding and creative. I had the enchiladas with pumpkin seed sauce--amazing. The server was also very helpful and checked in on us quite frequently. One caveat--the room is very small so it is not the best place for a business lunch. I could not hear my colleagues over... Love this restaurant, but make sure you get reservations. It's very popular. And make sure you try their version of lima beans. Delicious!

I ate here with a group of 8 people. We got great service and sampled from a tasty creative meal. The sides including the special side dish preparations of Brussels sprouts, Lima beans, and plantains were very well done. Yes, it's true. I never thought those veggies could taste so good. Also, the roast pork was delish!

I travel for business, and this restaurant is worth stopping at. Relaxed atmosphere but classy. Food is authentic, well thought out and presented. Free two hour parking just outside. Everything is fresh.

The fish, grouper and salmon, was perfect! The Lima beans were so unique. The pumpkin soup was a nice seasonal twist and the fried plantain was mouth wateringly good!

When you think of Mayan cuisine, what do you imagine? If you're like me, you're drawing a blank. When I am home, I eat in restaurants a lot, and always leave with boxes of food because I have a small appetite. My visit to Louisville was short, and take-home wasn't practical. Visiting Mayan Cafe, I was attracted by one of... More

My wife and I visited the Mayan Cafe at the urging of a colleague who is a "foodie". I had some of the best huevos in a very long time complimented with plantains and the unique drinks are good too. The portions are ample. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is smaller and can become a bit loud but... More

The reviews were dead on! Great meal! I was impressed....although I have never had Mayan dishes...this was excellent. I had their slow cooked pork and a blood orange margarita. Excellent! Great service. Quaint location in old town Louisville. The meals ranged from about $18 to $22.....mixed drinks were 6-$11/each Desserts were about $6/each....not cheap but well worth the price !... We were visiting the Louisville area to complete the Bourbon Trail when we visited the Mayan Cafe for dinner. We could not have been more pleased with our meals. I had the salmon while my husband had the pork. We were both thrilled with the food. We even enjoyed the lima beans... which we would normally never make at home,... More

Bruce Ucan, the chef and owner of the restaurant, brought his Mother's recipes from Central America and elevated them to delectable heights!!!!!!!! No one in the city can match his moles - absolutely scrumptious - or his tol-tek lima beans!!!! I personally hate lima beans but his preparation of these little morsels are unbelievable and always part of any meal... More
