A treat

In town for business, went with a colleague to one of his favorites, the Mayan Cafe, in the NuLu district. I tried the Blood Orange Margarita served in a tall glass, along with Pico de Gallo and Chips, which must have been made to order - very fresh. I also selected a 10 oz steak for my entree... read more

I've been here for dinner 3 times and the first time I thought it was possibly the most amazing meal I've ever had, the second time it was good but a little disappointing, and the third time I also thought it was lovely but again far from the amazingness of my first time. I do wish it were a little... More

The pumpkin seed sauce and chips were great. We split that with the guac appetizers. The taco specials and the burgers were also great. Favorite part was the Lima beans on the side. Highly recommend to change things up.

So good, we made two visits in our week here. Local, fresh, delicious food. We ate the rabbit from Barbour Farm, it was delicious and moist. Also had the bread pudding desert with avocado ice cream, delicious and light. A three course meal didn't make me feel stuffed or weighed down, portions were great and taste combinations divine! I would... More

Small intimate place with attentive informed staff. The Salutes are perfect for lunch. Toppings are fresh and refresing. It is NOT Mexican. Much more flavorful.

Being from the West Coast I was skeptical about trying Mexican/Central American food in Louisville Kentucky. What a wonderful surprise. The food tasted fresh and well thought through. The Sikil-pak pumpkin seed dip was amazing and a must have here. The Cochinita Pibil is a slow roasted pork deconstructed tamale. Also just wonderful.

The lima beans are well worth ordering as a side...delicious!! I highly recommend Mayan!!! It is a MUST try if you are a foodie and visiting Louisville, KY

Service was nice. Very small and crunched with space. Worth the try. Unusual menu. I would go as a casual try not an important date/event.

Tucked into NuLu is a great, fit for foodies restaurant, Mayan Cafe. Smallish, so reservations are tight. Friendly atmosphere with a side door entrance. Liquor with, wine and beer are served. Tried the "Don't Worry About It" which was bourbon based. It has effervescence which we didn't care for. Spiced Margarita was to die for. Scallop Ceviche was smallish but... More

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and weren't disappointed. The restaurant is small and funky and really stands out. A delicious different menu including drinks and fantastic friendly staff. It's in a good area of Louisville to explore. I wouldn't say it was ideal for a baby, no changing facilities but they were perfectly happy with him being... More
