If you want a change from mainstream cuisine, this restaurant is a great choice. The chef has developed a menu with interesting flavor combinations, evidently authentic Mayan tastes. The place has been packed every time I've been there, so I recommend calling ahead to make reservations because it's a fairly small dining space. Even though they're busy, the wait staff... More

Wife and I ate lunch here after the Forecastle Festival. I've worked in Guatemala and Belize for years, studying the ancient Maya. I've spent time in Yucatan as well, traveling for work and pleasure, but haven't been in some time. Most of the dishes on the menu are classics of Maya cuisine from the region, and are true to the... Small, unassuming cafe that has amazing food. Huevos were to die for. Salputes (pork, salmon, rabbit) were wonderful. Do yourself a favor and order Lima beans.

Perfect every time. Lunch there often and dinner is always excellent. The server has always given detailed choices, important for me.

First time to this restaurant and had a wonderful meal. Appetizers, entree and dessert all were terrific - well prepared, fresh ingredients, very different and each delicious. This is a small restaurant but the tables are not too closely packed together, so it does not feel jammed up. Service was good, but the kitchen was a bit slow. Food was... More

Passing through Louisville on the way to visit our kid at UK, (don't hate us Cardinal fans), and stopped at Mayan Cafe for dinner. Easy on/off access from Highway 64. And then. Wow, Who knew!! One of the finest meals we have come across in all of our world wide travels. Unique combinations of ingredients such as potatoes, cactus, Lima... More

This place is on the top 10 places in Louisville for a reason! Fantastic food and loved the small restaurant feel. They really take their time putting 100% love in their food! Started the scallop seviche, which was perfect. We also got the salmon entree and the pork entree! Craving more already! Drink selection is great and finished a wonderful... More

Now, we haven't been to a huge number of spots on our visits to Louisville but hands down this place served up the best food we've had in town. Creative, interesting flavors, beautiful presentation, excellent, helpful service, high marks for really, everything.
