Fine(est) Dining in an Historic Restaurant

I tend to gush when faced with such a meal, so I waited a few days to see if my enthusiasm might fade just a bit. It hasn't. I've experienced the tasting menus (and extended tasting menus) at such places as The French Laundry in CA and Per Se (pre-Pete Wells panning) in NYC. Most of the dishes... read more

Our meal at The Oakroom was truly amazing. The new chef Nick Sullivan is a creative genius, blending flavors and textures that delight the taste buds. We spent a very relaxing Friday evening enjoying the full tasting menu, where each course was more impressive than the next. The mushroom consomme with rabbit was just the beginning, followed by a perfectly... More

The 5 Star Diamond designation means excellence in delivery design and preparation of your meal. The Oakroom shines in each category. They also have an outstanding wine list.

This restaurant was pricey but good. I enjoyed the decor as much as the food. The service was excellent.

The manager of the Oakroom had better be glad that I wasn't a critic/reviewer from the 5 Diamond committee. My wife and I were all excited about eating the Sunday brunch at the renowned Oakroom last weekend. The hostess was very nice and sold us on idea the night before. Upon entering the restaurant we were very impressed with the... More

Set in a grand old hotel, the ambience here is that of quiet elegance and an old world club. From the delicious amuse bouche, to a shared truffled gnocchi, the food was overall quite good. The only complaint with the truffled gnocchi with broth was the overly salty broth. The pork belly in the mixture was wonderfully crunchy and tender.... More

My husband and I visited the restaurant and had one of the best dining experiences of our lives. The restaurant itself is stunning. The dark wood paneling is exquisite. The food is amazing and the staff went out of their way to make our experience wonderful. The wine list is great and our server provided a perfect recommendation. My husband... More

This is a 'special event' restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely, the service impeccable, the food outstanding. Nothing negative to report whatsoever. If you are in search of a special place to celebrate an engagement, birthday, anniversary -- this is a great choice.

This is a gorgeous bistro in a gorgeous grand hotel. The menu is definitely highbrow, but with a very limited variety and no great steaks. It's good for business guests but not foodies:
