This is in the heart of the St. Matthew's area. Has outdoor area in front where people bring their cocktails and gather until they retrieve a table. My server was nice, and helpful. Timing was great at each visit to our table to check on us. The pizza was fabulous !! If you enjoy thin crust, you will love it... More

We understand it gets really busy in the evening but quiet on a Saturday for a late lunch. Great service from our waiter. Discussed various beers on tap on what we like and we were brought a couple of samples. We both got a Kentucky Bourdon Barrel Ale brewed by Alltech Brewing and Distilling Company in Lexington, KY. If you... More

Friends who live in Louisville took us here during a recent business trip. We had a great meal and a fun visit. The pizza was excellent. Not run of the mill, but upscale artisan pizza. The cheesy flatbread was a hit with the kids. Beer and wine choices were very good too. The menu was much more than pizza -... More

So I admit, I am a bit of a pizza snob. Born and raised in NY, I have high standards for pizza. Louisville has some great pizza places but I can say with 100% certainty that Coals is the best in town! We love the atmosphere, the service, and the food. Our kids often request Coals on the weekends. They... More

Visited Coals on a warm Sunday evening, small classy place in a nice part of Louisville. We chose Coals based on TripAdvisor reviews. We were very happy with our choice! Our server Hunter was attentive and so nice. We split a wedge salad and risotto balls, both were yummy! Our pizza also did not disappoint, thin crunchy crust with fresh... More

Just love Coal's and my visit this most recent Monday evening was no disappointment. Started with the Arancini (Risotto balls stuffed w/ mozzarella and bacon, topped with basil and Parmesan cheese and served w/ a side of marinara)...crunchy, cheesy goodness. Clam chowder was their soup of the day and it was chock full of clam, delicious flavor. Now...that Waverly pizza...my... More

We have only gotten carry out but in my opinion, it's the best pizza in Louisville. Not sure what they do to that crust but it's addicting!
