Great atmosphere, indoor or outdoor seating, nice bar setting. The pizzas are fresh and crisp, perfect size for two. Along with one of their fresh unique salads, a glass of wine and you have perfect!

My husband and I love pizza! We decided to try this place out and weren't disappointed. We got the Middletown and it was excellent. The atmosphere is fun and there is a good drink selection.

Fantastic! As a pizza fanatic and lover of NYC and Naples style pizza, this place rocked! Pizza was a bit thicker than NYC pizza and crispier than Naples style. And a big Hurray on the pepperoni! They don't use the fake orange large stuff the chains use! Fresh ingredients, flavorful and just great. Plus, truly coal fired by wonderful charred... More

First if all let me say that I hate the over use of the word Artisan! Ugh I am a pizza lover and a fan of the Ny slice not a Chicago style girl. So now that I have established where I am on the pizza war, I am not a fan of the Coals pie. For me the pie... More

We're always on the lookout for great Neopolitan pizza and we found it in Louisville at Coal's. Lunch special got us a Marguerita pizza and a salad for $8.95. The day we were there, one of the waitstaff didn't show up and service was so slow, our first pizza was cold by the time it got to the table. Our... More

Okay, with a name like Coals you wold expect a wood fired oven. Decent pizza not the worlds greatest. Wedge salad was okay, nothing special. Dressing from a jar as well as processed bacon bits.

Arrived before 5 pm on a Friday and had immediate seating, but the place filled up quickly. This was our 2nd visit to Coal's. I started w/ the soup special...a poblano/tomato soup. It was delicious, the right heat from the poblano peppers. I didn't get any tomato flavor though; heavier on the corn. My partner had the strawberry arugula salad,... More

A party of 9 went here, including 3 children. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Our waiter took the drink order quickly, then pizza orders. The thin crusted pizza had a great flavor! The coal oven made a huge difference in the tasty category! We ordered 4 different ones and each was delicious. If you're looking for something... More

Walked in this small cozy establishment on a BUSY Tuesday night but was immediately greeted with a smile and seated. It is a really small but nicely appointed place. The pizzas are all named after Louisville neighborhoods. My husband and I had the Middletown and it was delicious as the ingredients are fresh and not your typical chain quality ingredients.... More
