Okay, with a name like Coals you wold expect a wood fired oven. Decent pizza not the worlds greatest. Wedge salad was okay, nothing special. Dressing from a jar as well as processed bacon bits.

Arrived before 5 pm on a Friday and had immediate seating, but the place filled up quickly. This was our 2nd visit to Coal's. I started w/ the soup special...a poblano/tomato soup. It was delicious, the right heat from the poblano peppers. I didn't get any tomato flavor though; heavier on the corn. My partner had the strawberry arugula salad,... More

A party of 9 went here, including 3 children. We were warmly greeted and seated right away. Our waiter took the drink order quickly, then pizza orders. The thin crusted pizza had a great flavor! The coal oven made a huge difference in the tasty category! We ordered 4 different ones and each was delicious. If you're looking for something... More

Walked in this small cozy establishment on a BUSY Tuesday night but was immediately greeted with a smile and seated. It is a really small but nicely appointed place. The pizzas are all named after Louisville neighborhoods. My husband and I had the Middletown and it was delicious as the ingredients are fresh and not your typical chain quality ingredients.... More

walked into restaurant on a busy Friday night. Asked the hostess about availability at bar. She replied "I don't know, go see". not a friendly welcome. Food was bland, bartender took awhile to get our order. Left after a disappointing meal and hostess never bothered to say good night. Will not go back.

This place uses a real coal-fired brick oven that in four minutes makes the crust moderately thin and toasty, so if you like your crust that way, you'll be delighted. The Pizzas are named after Louisville neighborhoods-- I had the Clifton, and it was DELICIOUS. I know some people complain about this place being pricy, but they have a great... More

I was so excited to see that Louisville had a Coal oven pizza joint and finally had the chance to try it out for lunch this week. The atmosphere is really nice with an attractive full bar, modern lighting, and dark painted woodwork. Since I was there for lunch I decided to try one of the lunch combos, which included... More

We choose Coal's as a good starting point to an eventful Friday night. Service was good and attentive. Good beer and wine selections with several local brews on tap. Appetizers were good with exception of the wings. There just wasn't a lot of flavor although they sounded and looked awesome! Our summer strawberry arugula salad with goat cheese and nuts... More

Several of us went to Coal's for lunch. None of us had been before. We all ordered different 8 inch pizzas with a side salad. All of us were delighted. The pizzas and the salads were perfect. The waitress was very attentive. It was a perfect lunch experience: great food, great service, great atmosphere with great friends. We will be... More
