Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg...
Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

That Surf Turf & Jerk!

The restaurant is rather spacious! The employees are all really cool guys everytime I have gone in. Though I haven't tried all of their food, what I have tried was very good. BUT there is one dish that will always keep me coming back the Surf Turf and Jerk, but they don't have it everyday, so I... read more

The title says it all. Worst Gumbo ever ate nothing like LA Gumbo an over spiced want to be. One trip was enough had heard that this was suppose to be the real deal --- it was a real joke couldn't force myself to eat half the meal.

I had their crawfish creole, and it was great at nearly the same price and time spent at a fast food restaurant.

For those who love spicy food, then by all means, this is the place for you. You order by choosing 1) a topping (gumbo or other mixed up similar sauce), then 2) a base, which is either rice or noodles. Simple as that. You order at the counter, the guy in the back slops it together and voila! You take... More

I had the privilege of tasting the delicious flavors of Gumbo Ya Ya this weekend. The Jambalaya and Gumbo were to die for (as were other dishes my friends enjoyed). Their garlic sauce is unparalleled. It is unfortunate I don't live here because they would be on my short list to visit often. Kudos to the chef and warm, welcoming... More

My wife and I had a great meal here. She had an excellent spicy vegetarian dish and I had the Jambalaya. While I didn't think my meal was in the traditional sense of what I expected, having been to NOLA, it was very good none the less. I would recommend Gumbo Ya Ya!

Found this place in here and thought I'd give it a whirl. It's right beside Buffalo Wild wings in Lexington. You can smell the food when you pull in the parking lot! Yum! I got the gumbo and red beans and rice. I ordered a small takeout and it was hugeeeeee! For only $6.50!! Unreal! The food was amazing and... More

Surprised that this was rated as highly as it was by Trip Advisor who usually provides great guidance on trips. Food was unexceptional. The rice was too much of the entree. It came out slopped on the plate and within minutes, dinner was over! If you are interested in an alternative to a burger, go! But, if you are eating... More
