Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg...
Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

Beyond the best

I just moved to Kansas City and I am already having YaYa withdraws. This is by far one of my favorite places. The "mawk shoooo" is always a treat and a staple for everyone. The three bean stew is a rare treat, get it anytime it's available and thank me later.

This was our first time here. What a treat! Though the menu is limited and you have to place your order at a counter similar to a fast food restaurant, the food is excellent and the price is very reasonable. The atmosphere was nothing special but certainly not a negative. The staff was very helpful and even gave us small... More

When my husband and I want cajun food, this is the first place we think of. Although it is a 25-30 minute drive for us, it is well worth it. The amount of food you get for the price is a deal! I made a special trip to get a few pints of the jambalaya and crawfish maque choux so... More

My husband and I were wanting to try local restaurants while we were visiting the Lexington area. We decided to try Gumbo YA YA because of the reviews, and we were SO glad we did! The food was incredibly delicious. We got two large plates of different dishes and split them. We had no idea it would be that much... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Lexington. My husband loves the Yatwich and my favorite is the Mach choux. I also love taking out-of-town friends there as they always have a vegan and vegetarian entree on their rotating menu.

Looking for great cajun food at reasonable price in Lexington, then Gumbo Ya Ya is the place! I was initially skeptical when I saw the location. It's in an old strip shopping center that is somewhat hidden off the main road. Took a circle around the place before finding it and thought to myself, "no way this would be good".... More

This is tasty fare, with pleasant and welcoming staff who are more than happy to explain their style of food to you. The jambalaya is my personal favorite. For Ale 8 One fans, they have it in the soda fountain! Very Kentucky and yet Creole at the same time. Comfortable atmosphere with kitschy decor.

Gumbo Yaya has a big following in Lexington, especially since Furlongs went out of business. Reliably good food at budget prices.
