Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg...
Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

Delicious no frills Cajun/Creole Food

My children and I were recently in Lexington for several days to visit family. We try to visit restaurants that are locally owned while we are there. My mom knows that we all enjoy Cajun/Creole food and suggested that we try it. I was not sure what we were getting ourselves into when we pulled... read more

Literally eat here every time we visit Lexington. The portions are large and the staff always has good suggestions on new things to try on the menu. Very much worth my hour trip to eat here.

I appreciate that you can try a sample of anything on the menu (except the Yatwich). The menu changes regularly, you can order on either white rice or noodles, get 'light' rice (if you don't want a full order) and all the entrees come in medium or large, you can choose chips or garlic bread.

We enjoyed our food and are glad we found this restaurant. Had the shrimp jambalaya, choux choux étouffée (vegetarian) and the shrimp gumbo. All were well seasoned with the gumbo being our favorite of the three. This local eatery is very simple from the outside as its in a small strip center (co-located with a Buffalo Wild Wings) with a... More

This creole food is fantastic and flavorful at a great price. Laid back atmosphere where you order first and seat yourself. Good music playing as well.

Stopped for a quick bite while traveling. Much better and the same price as any crappy fast food place. The Maque Choux is a must try!

I was really looking forward to this place because of the reviews but I was disappointed in the taste. I love cajun food but this was assorted slop on rice. Friendly people and fast service but this just wasn't my taste.

I just moved to Kansas City and I am already having YaYa withdraws. This is by far one of my favorite places. The "mawk shoooo" is always a treat and a staple for everyone. The three bean stew is a rare treat, get it anytime it's available and thank me later.

This was our first time here. What a treat! Though the menu is limited and you have to place your order at a counter similar to a fast food restaurant, the food is excellent and the price is very reasonable. The atmosphere was nothing special but certainly not a negative. The staff was very helpful and even gave us small... More

When my husband and I want cajun food, this is the first place we think of. Although it is a 25-30 minute drive for us, it is well worth it. The amount of food you get for the price is a deal! I made a special trip to get a few pints of the jambalaya and crawfish maque choux so... More
