Inexpensive and excellent cajun food. If you had enough of the typical restaurant food try this place. You get authentic cajun at a great value, it is tempered down for the local tastes but they have plenty of sauces to spice it up the way you want. You cannot see the place from the main road, its behind the pizza... More

Having gone to school in Louisiana I can say that this is okay Cajun food. Not great Cajun food. I loved that they had Abita beers available and there was decent spice to the dish that I got but overall it was nothing to write home about. Large portion for the money, but there was a lot of white rice... More

Found this was #1 on Trip Advisor, and decided to give it a go on our most recent trip to Lexington. It's a little hard to find as it is set back from the road in a shopping center. it's not fancy, and it's not expensive, so if that's what you think "#1 on Trip Advisor" automatically means then you... If you enjoy cajun/creole cuisine, it hard to go wrong here. The portions are good, menu has good variety, the food tastes great and is served quickly. Would highly recommend especially for lunch.

Tried this one for 1st time, (carryout),tried the 'old one' out on Tates Creek many times in 1980, (then moved) heard it was by same people, good but seemed to have way to much rice for the main items.Didn't seem to be as good as the 'old' one but maybe my tastebuds changed.

Some of the reviews seem over the top; this is not Antoine's or Gallatin's. Its what I imagine Cajun comfort food to be if your family didn't have much money. You are not going to get elegant plates heaped high with quality ingredients; you'll probably get a big gloppy plate and starch, starch, more starch and liquid make things go... More

I needed a new Cajun lunch spot after my local one in Beaumont closed. I was glad to find Gumbo Ya Ya, where a good lunch can be had for $7. I have met people who make it a point to stop there whenever they are in town. Try it and you will see why.

Sure, if you want to go away stuffed and don't pay much attention to the nature of the stuffing, I guess this is the place to go. Price is great, but it should be. Better quality in the Bluegrass is at B&T. Not number one in Lex by a mile.

For only $14 my husband and I got 2 of the Large size plates. I got the Chicken creole and Chicken E'touffee both over rice. I liked the flavor of the Creole much better. My husband got the Maque Choux and Crawfish E'touffee over rice. He enjoyed both of them. Meals come with a big piece of garlic bread on... More

A bit confused by this being the #1 restaurant in Lexington. It could be argued this isn't even the #1 gumbo place in Lexington. It's not bad though, just a little removed from the "heart" of the city. Food is good. BnT provides more ambiance, however.
