Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

Never disappointed with a meal from Gumbo Ya-Ya. Fast efficient service. The jambalaya and gumbo are the best. My husband orders jambalaya with red beans over it. Do not miss the pralines, they are amazing.

I don't know why people rate Gumbo Ya Ya that highly. Three stars for the quality of the food is a reach. I thought it was rather bland. The only great thing about the place is that it's so cheap. But probably indicative of the quality of ingredients going in the food. And to add insult to injury, the bourbon... More

Stopped here on a short stay in Lexington and was kind of blown away at how delicious the food was. The menu was varied and you had the option of sampling dishes before ordering, which was nice. We placed our order at the counter and were promptly handed Abitas and given our steaming hot plates of food. My boyfriend and... More

Went to this place to dinner with hubby... Quite nice place.. Gentleman at counter let us sample before ordering which was great.. Ordered 4 things with large plate 1/2 and 1/2... There was a lot of food for price we paid.. Taste wise Maque Choux was good but everything was just abt alright.. Overall this place is decent.

It's apparent the owners have lived in NOLA. This establishment has the unique NOLA feel rarely seen outside Louisiana, and a great feel it is. The food is very slightly bland compared to the same dish served on Royal Street, but that's probably best for Lexington taste buds and tummys. The food will not disappoint. Relative to price, a great... More

Great authentic cajun food that ALWAYS has a vegan option. You can buy their unique sauce for home use as well. Go there when they open at 11:00 AM and you will always find a line at the ordering counter, an excellent indicator of great food.

Great little Cajun Restaurant with great prices and great atmosphere. I would recommend the Maque Choux. You can try fee samples of anything before you orders as well. I also love that they have Ale8 as a beverage choice. Customer Service is also great. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

This place is just a little hole in the wall, but we came here based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. I have attended cooking schools in New Orleans and this food is as good as I've had outside of New Orleans. I loved that we were able to sample the food before ordering it. My husband and I... More

While waiting (very briefly) for my Choux Choux E'touffee, a customer made mention that this was the best Cajun they'd had outside of New Orleans. Spicy, plentiful and real, I can't wait to have everything on the menu.

Eat here just about every time I go to Lexington. Good, inexpensive and very quick. I love their Cajun food. I think you will, too. (I take my friends there as well)
