Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

This is not New Orleans and maybe you shouldn't expect the creole food to be any good, but this stuff is GREAT! Love the guys running it and the food is worth the trip.

The menu is written on a blackboard and changes every week. There are several sauces that can be placed on rice or pasta.

Not sure what you want? Try a sample! I had no clue what I wanted so I played it safe and got 1/2 jambalaya and 1/2 seafood ya ya. It was outstanding! Not too spicy. My husband got 1/2 gumbo and 1/2 chicken étouffée it was a little in the spicy side. His was ok, mine was still better! We... More

Pros: - Super-fast food. Before we completed the check-out process, our food was waiting for us! Great if you're ever in a rush or dying of hunger. - Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food that you get. For $7.95 for a large plate, you'll be quite full. Cons: - Surprisingly, especially after reading other reviews, the food... More

WE often drive from Virginia to Arkansas to visit relatives. We found this place in the AAA book and decided to give it a try. It was so good we always stop on our way thru even if it isn't mealtime. EVERYTHING on the menu is excellent and cheap. If you get a large plate you can get two different... More

We were traveling from Florida to Cincinnati and found Gumbo YaYa on Trip Advisor. Excellent food! Jazz music. We had jambalaya and the Maque Choux(mock shoe). Delicious!

Any time I find myself near UK's campus I make a stop at Gumbo Ya Ya. The food is fantastic and also very very cheap. One person can get a nice sized dish for $5 and probably go home with some leftovers! Visit Gumbo Ya Ya, you wont regret it.

This place is very different to the sort of places my husband and I would normaly eat at. We chose it because of the many good reviews and it wasn't too far from where we were staying. We were pleasently suprised. The atmosphere was very relaxed and casual and we really enjoyed our meal. It's nice when you try something... More

Sunday had a limited menu compared to the Web site menu. But the food was pretty good and very reasonable.
