Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg...
Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

Always a good idea to eat here.

This is absolutely the best place in 100 miles for authentic cajun cuisine! It's never a disappointment.

I've been here twice, and both times the food was excellent. Because of the ability to order two entrees in a large plate, I've tried nearly everything on the menu. My favorite is the Maque Choux over pasta, but everything is great! Since the menu consists primarily of various prepared sauces served over either rice or pasta, it's extremely fast.... More

Gumbo Ya Ya is by far one of the tastiest "fast" food carry-outs I have had in a long time. The serving size and price makes this an even better great food choice.

I'm new to the town and was looking for a quick bite in between job interviews when I stumbled upon Gumbo Ya Ya. I certainly plan on returning! Not only was the food fantastic and full of flavor, but the workers were so personable and friendly. It made me feel like I was back in a small town that had... More

Located in a strip mall, Gumbo Ya Ya doesn't look like much from outside. But once you're inside and see the extensive menu and affordable prices, you know this place is different. I had their maque choux and it was delicious! I highly recommend this place.

This was my second visit with coworkers who love this restaurant. If you like Cajun fare- gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée, etc.- you will love this place. You walk in, order at the counter, and almost immediately get your order. Seating is tight due to the number of customers going thru during lunch so be prepared. You also can sample their menu.... Hard to find, but easy to love. This no-frills cajun fast food joint gets it right: great food, cheap prices and friendly service. Sure, it's cafeteria style (or take-out), but it's all about the food and the food is nothing short of spectacular.

Very convenient and reasonably priced. Portions were large. Not award winning Gumbo like Beal Street served but I would eat it again.

I used to live in Louisiana so my standards are high for creole food. Friends had gumbo which was quite good. I had red beans and rice which was quite good. They are great about letting you taste dishes before you order. "Small" plates were anything but, so you could fill up even the hungriest.
