Description: Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg...
Gumbo Ya Ya Fast Casual Cajun Creole is locally owned & operated by Greg and Tressa Todd. Greg started his career in the Cajun restaurant business in 1989 as an assistant manager for New Orleans native Joe Vuskovich (Original founder of Jozo's Bayou Gumbo). Greg worked under Joe V's wing for many years as a prep cook, store manager & co-partner of the original Yats Cajun Creole. After several years in the business, Greg decided to open his own Cajun joint with a “keep it simple” motto & no frills. Thus the chalkboard menu and tax included pricing. The S. Broadway location opened it's doors in January of 2004 and continues to serve up Lexington's finest Cajun cuisine around. Greg takes great pride in knowing every plate of food served in his store is prepared by him using fresh local produce (no preservatives) & that he is dishing up damn good Cajun Creole for a can’t beat it price! So, whether your in the mood for the famous Yatwich, or you need to satisfy your irrepressible urge for Maque Choux, or you just want ya some Red Beans & Rice on Wash day, Ya Ya's has got you covered!

Food is amazing, great prices, and huge servings! White Chili is my fave, topped on rice or noodles with tasty garlic bread! Homemade hot sauce is great, you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu!

The food here is phenomenal. These guys have been around the Lexington scene for a long time. It's super quick and easy to grab a bite here. No bar, but you can get a cold beer with your Cajun food if you'd like. Or, you can go with Ale-8-1 on the fountain and go ahead & be a true Kentuckian.... More

Fast, friendly and easy on the wallet. The staff was more than willing to let me try a sample to help me make up my mind. I had the Maque choux and I have been comparing every meal since then to it. I ordered the small plate which was more than generous and left plenty of room for the bread... More

I have eaten here many times, got takeout from here many times. I have ALWAYS been satisfied with the results. The food here is delicious. Good cajun food. Service is friendly and fast. Servings are large for the price; two normal people could eat here for a total of $20 easily. Parking can be a hassle because of the wing... More

It's hard to go wrong with the food here. No frills, just good food across the menu. Great for a fifth date, maybe not a first date.

What a hidden gem! The food is hands down some of the best Cajun food we have had, especially this far north of 'true Canjun country.' The Maque Choux is amazing! The food is properly spiced & seasoned, but if you choose to kick it up, there are ample bottles of hot sauces, dried pepper, Cajun spice bottles available to... More
