Decent Food, Average Service, Dumb Name

Start with the latter. This is the worst name they could have picked. It's not a coffee shop, it's a Caribbean themed menu. Pick up with the food. Good value for what it is, not the best food but OK for the price point. Lots of Caribbean themed stuff, beans and rice, etc. And some good fish. The... read more

This restaurant used to be a favorite of mine but alas no longer. Patio music shuts down when UK starts playing football. Manager made suggestions on food and wine but no one checked with us after our terrible food arrived. We waited over 30 minutes for a drink and when I asked the server where our drinks were he replied... More

Known for its spacious patio and exotic island themed drinks, the Atomic Cafe also offers a taste of the Caribbean during cold winter days. While the huge plate glass windows shine light onto the North Limestone thoroughway, the atmosphere inside is alive with the delicious dishes from south of Key West. Starting with my favorite appetizer, sweet potatoe chips served... More

Lived in the Caribbean for several years. I found the description of the menu items to be authentic. Goat Cheese Salad was fresh and ginger dressing was excellent. It was a pretty night, and we were comfortable on the patio. Will go back to try more. I recommend they expand their list of Caribbean beers. Servers were attentive and pleasant.

While visiting Lexington this trip, I stopped in with a friend for a drink. As Summer winds down, and we enter college football season and Keeneland, the bands on the deck fade away; however, it was still bustling with folks enjoying the deck. I did not eat at the restaurant on this visit but the focus of the restaurant is... More

It was a nice evening in Lexington and my wife and I wanted to find a relaxing patio to have dinner. We chose the Atomic Café and were glad we did. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The Caribbean flavor is a welcome change to the standard restaurant fare. The patio is large and some of... More

Relaxed island feel without chickens. Staff were friendly and drinks were small but very good. It has a limited menu and seasoning was a little thick on the chicken. Thick as in volume which did not enhance the taste. I do not like sweet potatoes so the fries were replaced with Mac and cheese which was interesting as it had... More

This Caribbean-themed little jewel is a favorite of locals and one you'll have to search out just a bit; It is located a few blocks north of Lexington's Main St. The food is good, the service friendly, and it's priced reasonably. The dining room is decorated floor to ceiling in a tropical mural. The large patio area is covered, pleasant... More

My husband and I were traveling, so we checked into our hotel and searched for something different and relaxing. Our waitress was very nice, food was good, and the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxing. We were told the University was on spring break so things were a little quieter than normal for the area. Favorite was the sweet potato... More

Definitely my FAVORITE place to eat and good times in Lexington KY. This is a very unique Carribean restaurant....more Jamaican & Cuban style food, so look for spicey. The menu is full of great selections, conch fritters, jerk shrimp, fish, rice, black beans, Love the corn bread.....too many to list! Also for the more American palet you may get your... More
