We've been coming here for more than 20 years and it's still a really enjoyable place to get to. Located in downtown Lexington, it is a Caribbean restaurant that's grown from a tiny cafe to a full size dining spot. Big portions, typical cuisine and reasonable prices. The bean with corn chips is a... read more

Each year during Coal Prep I make a point to visit the Atomic Cafe. Love the Food and the ambiance. If you love the caribbean flavors then this is the place to go. Very eclectic restaurant. Love the Mahi Mahi cooked in the bananna leaves - so good.

In a funky up-and-coming neighborhood of Lexington, this restaurant (it's not really a cafe at all) features mindblowing cajun-inspired cuisine. Huge portions, great seafood options, fast and friendly staff and a great atmosphere and decor makes it an entirely enjoyable experience.

Visited Lexington, and hoped to have a nice, casual dinner before heading back to Frankfort. My husband wanted garlic chicken, but it wasn't on the Cafe's menu, so he went for the jerk chicken. It was not a good sign when the cook, (I think that is who he was) came to the table with a large Kirkland container of... More

This restaurant used to be a favorite of mine but alas no longer. Patio music shuts down when UK starts playing football. Manager made suggestions on food and wine but no one checked with us after our terrible food arrived. We waited over 30 minutes for a drink and when I asked the server where our drinks were he replied... More

Known for its spacious patio and exotic island themed drinks, the Atomic Cafe also offers a taste of the Caribbean during cold winter days. While the huge plate glass windows shine light onto the North Limestone thoroughway, the atmosphere inside is alive with the delicious dishes from south of Key West. Starting with my favorite appetizer, sweet potatoe chips served... More

Start with the latter. This is the worst name they could have picked. It's not a coffee shop, it's a Caribbean themed menu. Pick up with the food. Good value for what it is, not the best food but OK for the price point. Lots of Caribbean themed stuff, beans and rice, etc. And some good fish. The middle. The... More

Lived in the Caribbean for several years. I found the description of the menu items to be authentic. Goat Cheese Salad was fresh and ginger dressing was excellent. It was a pretty night, and we were comfortable on the patio. Will go back to try more. I recommend they expand their list of Caribbean beers. Servers were attentive and pleasant.

While visiting Lexington this trip, I stopped in with a friend for a drink. As Summer winds down, and we enter college football season and Keeneland, the bands on the deck fade away; however, it was still bustling with folks enjoying the deck. I did not eat at the restaurant on this visit but the focus of the restaurant is... More

It was a nice evening in Lexington and my wife and I wanted to find a relaxing patio to have dinner. We chose the Atomic Café and were glad we did. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The Caribbean flavor is a welcome change to the standard restaurant fare. The patio is large and some of... More
