A belated birthday dinner

A good friend took me to Portofino's for a belated birthday dinner. We didn't have reservations but it was a Wednesday so we figured we were okay. I first visited this restaurant nearly four years ago. At the time it was sort of romantic and upscale. This spring my husband and I thought it would be a great place to bring my parents because they had just bought a second home in Lexington. Oh no! The hostess did not look the part. She was very under dressed... More

This is our second time to this restaurant and I would recommend sitting outside on patio in warm weather. The inside dining area is nice but nothing special. We ate brucetta which was very good, delicious goat cheese with apple salad, caprese salad.. All good. Two of us had risotto with pork medallions which were okay but not the best... More

We liked everything about this restaurant...the friendly service, the charming decor and lighting, the delicious food. The bruschetta appetizer was ample to share and very tasty. The bread was grilled, which added the right amount of crunch. It was served with a delicious gorgonzola sauce that had an interesting kick (which could be bottled and sold :) ) and flavorful... My fiancee and I recently visited Portofino for a celebratory meal while visiting Lexington from Louisville. The food was good, but not great in my opinion. The atmosphere is very nice - loved the outdoor area, and would have requested a table out there if it was cooler that day. We ordered two appetizers to start: the bruschetta and the... More

Picture this fish special: pan seared mangrove snapper (caught by the chef's father in Florida two days earlier) served on top of a slice of grilled watermelon, topped with a stuffed squash blossom, with a blueberry reduction, country ham bits, baby potatoes and baby squash. A world of flavors on my plate. Then the meat special: grilled New York strip... More

What a fabulous surprise! Had the shrimp and scallops pasta with homemade noodles....amazing! It was the tastiest pasta that I have had in as long as I can remember, mixed with a cream based sauce that was perfect! Will definitely be back with my husband! They have quail as well, which looked delicious, The apple and goat cheese salad was... More

Thoroughly enjoyed Portofino's. Had been recommended by someone on our BlueGrass Tour so we decided to try it and definitely not disappointed. Had the Seafood Buccatini and the Lasagna. Buccatini was great!! Nice classy place,

Portofino's is a great restaurant that my wife and I frequent on special occasions. The food is consistently good, but a bit pricey. Their bruschetta appetizer is wonderful and we have never been disappointed with any of their dinner entrees.

Portofino is probably my favorite restaurant in town. I go there frequently for business (once a month) and leisure. I went twice this past week; once with a party of 6 for dinner - food was very good; service was fine. The next day, two of us went for lunch. The troubles started at the door: the hostess was on...
