My wife and I stopped by here today after a Dr's appointment, the reason because Sav opened up the ice cream store across the street the friday night before for our family 15 mins after closing time. Absolutely delicious and service was impeccable. I think our 2 meals, drinks , and tip were about $25. If you're in Lexington you absolutely... More

African music makes the joint interesting, and the food is delicious (lamb and ribs). Kenyan beer was fresh (not skunked like many imports). Came in because of earlier reviews and we will return. We will also be purchasing some of the hot sauce to take home!

We've been meaning to get to Sav's for a while. It's small and unassuming but there's enough seating inside and I enjoyed all the African art and artifacts on the walls. We chatted with Sav. He's so pleasant and helpful. The food was really tasty and satisfying. I had the goat and my partner had the beef stew. We wre... More

Wonderful home cooked food. Sav is friendly and helpful. His hot sauce is awesome! I highly recommend giving this place a try for something out of the ordinary in Lexington.

We had the peanut goat on fufu (plantains, aptly described as being like dumplings) and the peanut chicken on brown rice. Both were excellent. Sav provided hot sauce on the side in little cups that seemed small but were the exact right amount. He was friendly and helpful; this place is well run. The "large" bowls were generous, and I... I've eaten at a lot of places and this place is great! The food is homecooked and the owner (who is from West Africa) is the one serving you. He comes by after the meal to ask you how it was. He also owns the ice cream place across the street.

Excellent West African food served by friendly people. I'm especially fond of the Peanut Chicken and Peanut Vegetable dishes. I'm usually able to find parking in one of the many meter spots on Limestone.

It would be easy to overlook Sav's since it is located in the middle of UK's bar scene, and most Kentuckians won't know what to expect of West African Cuisine, but stop in and try this exotic fare! Since most of it seems to be stew-like, fall and winter are the perfect seasons to give it a try. it will... More

We enjoyed a wonderful bowl of stew on fufu, and plantains with tomatoes and onion. It was delicious and such a nice treat. It was nicely decorated and the owner/chef was very hospitable. Having children from Ghana, we would make the trip to take them for some familiar homestyle cooking! Worth a try, really delicious and a great hot sauce... More

This place is authentic and very good. We tried several dishes including the fried plantains and leafy greens with couscous all were good with great flavors. Make sure you try the hot sauce to spice it up. Sav's also has a good beer selection. Try the Kenyan beer. I will go back regularly.
