I've eaten at a lot of places and this place is great! The food is homecooked and the owner (who is from West Africa) is the one serving you. He comes by after the meal to ask you how it was. He also owns the ice cream place across the street.

Excellent West African food served by friendly people. I'm especially fond of the Peanut Chicken and Peanut Vegetable dishes. I'm usually able to find parking in one of the many meter spots on Limestone.

It would be easy to overlook Sav's since it is located in the middle of UK's bar scene, and most Kentuckians won't know what to expect of West African Cuisine, but stop in and try this exotic fare! Since most of it seems to be stew-like, fall and winter are the perfect seasons to give it a try. it will... More

We enjoyed a wonderful bowl of stew on fufu, and plantains with tomatoes and onion. It was delicious and such a nice treat. It was nicely decorated and the owner/chef was very hospitable. Having children from Ghana, we would make the trip to take them for some familiar homestyle cooking! Worth a try, really delicious and a great hot sauce... More

This place is authentic and very good. We tried several dishes including the fried plantains and leafy greens with couscous all were good with great flavors. Make sure you try the hot sauce to spice it up. Sav's also has a good beer selection. Try the Kenyan beer. I will go back regularly.

I have been a patron of Sav's Grill for a few years now. The staff of our small office frequently has their staff meetings at Sav's over lunch. The food is great and the service is even better! And if you like hot & spicy, make sure you get some of his homemade hot sauce. The flavor is amazing!! And... More

I've been a patron of Sav's since it first opened, simply because I'd previously had West African cuisine and actually prepared West African foods in my home a few times (there's a great African & Caribbean market in Eastland Shopping Center), so I was definitely interested in a new place that offered this specific kind of food. Don't go expecting... More

Interesting and different for Lexington. Great food at a great price. Casual setting, friendly staff. Owner is originally from West Africa, and so the food is authentic. Especially like the peanut chicken and the Attieke salad.

Sav;s just opened up an ice crea, parlour with KY "premium" ice creams as well as "regular" ice creams. A double scoop in a dish of "premium" ice cream is $5.90 and 50 cents more for a cone. so, for two people to have two dishes, the total is more than $12.00. This is outrageously overpriced for ice cream that... More

I had never had African food before and didn't know what to expect. I was in the area and dropped in for lunch one day. the place wasn't too busy (parking is awful) but I got to talk with the Owner who is a super nice guy. He made some good recommendations and the food I got was just outstanding.
