For years we assumed Lexington didn't have any decent Cuban food. Boy am I glad I was wrong. Old San Juan is exactly what one wants in a Cuban restaurant. Comfortable seats, friendly staff, hearty portions, and great prices. Some of the best cafe con leche I've ever had. My new favorite place.

Being originally from Cuba, I have been a long time patron of Old San Juan. Simply put, eating there is like eating at my Abuela's back in Havana, this is as authentic as it gets. Throughout the years the restaurant has been run by 3 different couples. The original owners, who retired, the second owners, also an older couple who... More

A few years back I had the pleasure of finding Old San Juan Cuban Cuisine in Lexington, KY. I remember the hospitality and wonderful, authentic Cuban Sandwich and Black beans and rice. Due to life in general, I seemed to have routinely passed up this place since.I found myself in the mood for a Cuban sandwich and instinctively turned to... More

Every once in a while we have to go back to our roots and have some traditional home cooking. While we aren't Cuban, the Cuban cuisine is very similar to the Puerto Rican cooking we grew up with back home. We were thrilled to find this wonderful little restaurant and were not disappointed. We grabbed a table, browsed the menu,... More

My husband and I and another couple are dinner pals and always love a new experience. So,last Saturday night we tried this Cuban restaurant. The only negative was the amount of time it took to get our food - more than an hour. We didn't know if they were short-staffed or if this was just the Saturday evening crowd. The... More

I've been visiting this small family restaurant for years. Any time, any item, always delicious. The bread is fresh and wonderful, the staff are delightful and helpful. The atmosphere is great! Took our 15 month old and her G'pa recently. We had the Cuban, Black-bean and triple sandwiches. All delicious. For desert we had their tres leches and it was... More

We showed up 5 minutes before closing with a party of 7. They could not have been more accommodating. Nice variety on their menu. We all had something different, and everyone was happy with their meal.

Family run place, that is very clean, and serves authentic cuban food with lots of smiles. I will certainly return again and again.

While visiting Lexington, my friend and I stopped here at the recommendation of a Lexington local. My first impression was it was extremely small, very busy, and very clean. A table was found for us immediately. The Cuban couple who own/run this restaurant are absolutely lovely. They do not speak a lot of English but they speak enough to get... More

Just stumbled on this restaurant ....mom and pop ....small...just owner and his wife...and the food is inexpensive, plentiful and REAL Cuban cuisine. I had roast pork, black beans, fried plantains with fresh bread and some sort of Cuban soft drink for less than $15.00. Excellent!!!!!
