Over the moon to discover this gem hidden away near Ickworth House. We were happy when we found a home for a baby, a dog and the two of us. We were ecstatic once we had eaten a tremendous meal. Really wholesome ingredients and a range of excellent mini desserts to accompany a hot coffee (not warm coffee, not burnt... More

Having had several excellent meals with great ambience at The White Horse before, although none of them recently - tonight's Christmas meal with former work colleagues was very disappointing. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold and the three tables of diners were shoved up together in one corner of one of the dining rooms. We thought that more people were expected,... More

I was very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your recent visit to the White Horse, having enjoyed many other visits. We did have a problem with our heating system that day which was rectified in the late afternoon, being a very ancient building it does take time for the heat to build up and it was a particularly... Well very eventful. The most fantastic electrical storm happened and the power was cut off. Didn't spoil the evening though, staff stepping up to the plate. Couldn't even pay as only had a card and the lines were down. Very good food, lovely ambiance, up to the power going, dog allowed to sit under the table like she does at... More

Was just going to stop for a pint but was so impressed by the great menu that we stayed for lunch and enjoyed the beautiful day and the food at a table in the beer garden. I tried the goblet of crayfish tails, and then the Roast Beef and they were both delicious. Great service from a very friendly staff,... More

Took a group of Stroke Survivors here for lunch last Tuesday. (22 in the Group) For obvious reasons we chose the food from a selection offered in advance and this did not disappoint. The quality and presentation was excellent, staff very friendly and efficient...almost a family atmosphere with formal food. It was then we discovered that the owners were past... More

Even our dog enjoys coming here, and recognises it when she gets out of the car - she knows that she will get lots of fuss in a warm and welcoming pub. This was a Sunday lunch on a wonderful autumn day - very English, somehow. We shared the mixed appetisers (my wife and I, not the dog), before I... More

It has been a while since we had been to the White Horse so thought we would return and we were not disappointed. A lovely welcome by Kate Duvall and the Manager. We were able to reserve a table we like near the window. We both had great starters of goats cheese on bruschetta bread and haloumi, both in some... More

Having sampled most of what Bury St Edmunds has to offer in the way of pubs and restaurants and had numerous pub meals that were rather average, we looked further afield to find that little something special. A pub with lovely cosy furnishings and a tantalising menu is what we found. The end product was simply fantastic and we will... More

On impulse, my wife and I drove into the countryside to find somewhere to eat. We were very lucky to find The White Horse, which is beatifully tucked away, very peaceful and nicely modernised without losing original features. The menu was quite large enough, without being over powering. The service was quick and friendly and the food was good.

Delicious lunch - cold melon and mint soup, followed by steak and kidney which had loads of flavour. Plus endless attention for our dog who was reluctant to leave at the end - as were we. Always a delight going here and we leave very well-fed and happier about life!
