Good food at good prices

We stopped here on the off chance and what a find. While it was pretty empty there was plenty of character and warmth. Food was tasty and everything about it and the pub means we asked for the evening menu to look at. It is interesting enough that we will be back for a meal. Very good.

So pleased that the restaurant/pub opened for meals under new management and a new chef this week. Very nice pub food on offer including steak, chicken, fish, chilli and the Chef's specials including veggie options, all at reasonable prices. It's a comfortable homely pub and the staff are very friendly. We wish Tim, Chef Leam and all the staff well... More

Recently reopened, the decor is lovely and quaint in this pub with an oven in the back and lots of detail. Went in as a very small group on a lunch break from work. It went downhill from there. The burgers were overcooked with huge (and I mean ~5" thick) bread. The pie burnt and was brought out burnt, asked... More

Stopped here today for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The pub has reopened under new management. Our food was excellent. Very fresh and well printed. Everyone was very friendly and although we were strangers we were made to feel at home. We will definitely go back.

Unfortunately this restaurant/pub is no longer open for business. I live in the village and like many of my neighbours would like to see it open for business again. It was a great place to eat and we'd like it to be the same again. Very sad.

Took a booking 3 weeks ago for a table on a Saturday night. When we arrive the place is shut!! Not much more to say. Either they have closed, or they can't be bothered to contact customers with reservations to cancel the bookings. We won't be going back again!

Perhaps we were here on an off night, but it felt a very different pub to the one mentioned in some of the previous glowing reviews. Let's start with the positives. Good friendly but unobtrusive service, nice bread and a pretty good whitebait starter. That earned the two stars. Things went down hill rapidly with the mains. Two orders of... More

A friend and I had lunch and an evening meal here recently and both were brilliant. Well-balanced seasoning, perfectly cooked, unfussily garnished - everything you want from a country pub. The lamb shank and fresh tuna steaks we had for dinner were stunning - juicy and tasty; the chef knows his protein! The veg - smashed potatoes with grain mustard... More

An impromptu booking, to see a long lost friend. Shame no others in this wonderful pub, but food and catch up more than made up for that. I had not been for a while, and this pub has changed hands a number of times,....please this time give it another go! Both of us had beef stroganoff, the best I have... More

I visited this pub again recently after a long absence. It has recently changed hands, so I was really pleased to find that the atmosphere is as welcoming as ever, service is excellent and the food is delicious. I would especially recommend the chocolate brownies - I want that recipe!
