The highlight of a great weekend

I must confess it was with a little trepidation I booked the Bear for a Sunday lunch. Up from London for the weekend were a lovely couple I've known many years whose standards are high. They enjoy the big city competition that can provide for good food at reasonable cost - if you know where to go... read more

A really amazing meal, in a local pub. There was a wide choice of dishes on the menu. Food was perfectly cooked, using fresh ingredients and to a very high quality. Service was excellent.

Many years ago I lived in Beyton and to me the pub looked tired, run down and a spit and sawdust place, with only a handful of local drinkers keeping it afloat.Certainly not an inviting picture. Looking at reviews of local pubs in the area I was very surprised to read good ones. As advised I booked a table for... More

Don't be put off by the unprepossessing exterior. This is a great place to eat. We had a delicious lunch chosen from a small but interesting menu with very good, locally supplied ingredients. Staff were helpful and pleased to be part of a great place. Stripped bare tables and chairs, with no frills or soft furnishings did not detract from... More

It is many years since I have set foot in this rather unprepossessing hostelry. I my youth and indeed in later years it was a famed beer house, not my scene. My friend suggested that to celebrate my birthday we ought to visit and have a meal as he had heard very good things about it. Never one not to... More

Turn right and you are in with the country drinkers with and open fire but turn left and you have a lovely dining room and the food was excellent. Very well prepared and great tasting! Get to know the landlord/owner he's actually funnier than he looks! LOL The staff were great too and always kept us topped up! Great price... More

I had heard great things about the restaurant, so we went there for my husbands birthday with the family. I found the food pretty to look at but lacking in taste and quite frankly a bit pretentious. Good presentation and small portions isn't really what it is about. It mainly has to deliver on taste and if it doesn't do... More

We visited The Bear Inn for the first time last night. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our table. The food was 'restaurant standard' and great value. They offer 'tasting' size desserts which is a great idea - I normally want a dessert but don't have room for a full portion. We will definitely be back... More

Having not eaten here before, trip advisor reviews persuaded a friend and I to try here one thursday evening. It all seemed quite average really, nothing to complain about, just nothing to rave about either. Not the flavoursome food I expected

Another truely excellent meal at The Bear, an absolute delight in every way. Even though we were a party of 20, the food and service was superb. Can't wait to visit again.
