Superb new find.

Came for dinner with friends, fantastic food, great service, good range of drinks on offer. Large car park and a really nice building all add to a great and easy place to come and enjoy dinner or just drinks out.

We arranged to visit the Bear for a Christmas meal with friends. To start with, the new owners opened specially for us on a Monday night when they usually aren't open for food. The service was fantastic, really friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world - easily the best Christmas meal we've had in years! Lots of... More

Recently taken over by the Landlady of 'The cannon Brewery" the new owners have got off to a good start, food was excellent, service excellent, ambience requires a bit of work, but this is in hand, lots of improvements planned apparently and we look forward to further visits.

Went tonight for a birthday celebration. Surprised to see new ownership but, luckily, the same chef, so, as usual, exceptional food for a pub. Couldn't eat better at a 5*/gourmet restaurant. Thank you, lovely as usual. We will be back!

On our initial visit we had excellent service and a delicious meal in somewhat sparse surroundings which didn't detract from our enjoyment. However we were disappointed at the main event a week or two later. In particular, the beef and ale pie had only 5 or 6 pieces of meat inside and some were very chewy.

would be wrong! From the outside, this looks like a spit and sawdust pub (unusual name aside) and that image continues inside - apparently a refurbishment will happen in the New Year. But the service was warm, welcoming, apologetic for some eccentricities of layout. Fish & chips were delicious, and desserts most enjoyable, too. I'm picky about coffee but that... More

We booked a table at The Bear Inn tonight and really looked forward to a great meal - especially with the reviews we'd seen on TA. Sadly it was a bit of a disaster. We arrived very early on a Saturday night. Only 2 other people were there. We ordered and due to a new wine menu they only offered... More

Excellent service - matched by excellent food. Well worth visiting. Simple but comfortable surroundings - and dog friendly in the bar.

Good quality food except the roast beef was overpriced as you only got two thin slices. My wifes Sea Bass again was overpriced for the size ofthe portion.
