Good Gracious--Good Food --Good Service

While at Shaker Village, take advantage of true heritage food prepared by kitchen artist. After touring the paths, make sure you make a path to the dinning room.

I dined here recently with a small group. Two of our group had the steak and ale pie, and they were impressed. Another member had the shrimp and grits, and she found it to be good. I had the "farm raised" catfish and it was just ok. I guess I should have been leary of "farm raised". It really had... More

We loved our weekend stay here! We stayed in the Old Stone Shop (built in 1811) and really enjoyed the charm and quaintness of our room. The furniture is all exact reproduction Shaker style. Of course, in a discrete manner they have added 'modern' conveniences. Our room had a nice TV, coffee maker, clock, blow dryer and that sort of... More

We traveled to the Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg, KY for lunch. The restaurant is small, so reservations are necessary. The menu is short but covers a variety of dishes with a strong iced tea served. Our waitress was a delight, offering suggestions and making a substitution when one member of our group was not happy with his... More

Shaker village is an interesting, peaceful and beautiful destination on its own, but it's also worth the drive just to have lunch. The food is fresh, locally sourced and a pleasant change from the typical oversized, overspiced, oversalted fare at most places. I do wish they'd do something more creative with the kids menu (my daughter doesn't really like any... More

We stopped for dinner while traveling through Kentucky last night and found great food, service and ambiance with prices comparable to more ordinary chain restaurants. It was well worth the scenic drive off of the inter-states, to go back in time. The main courses include tasty and ample red potatoes, green beans, corn pudding (local tradition) and warm rolls. The... More

My husband and I stayed at the Village for 3 nights at the end of a 2 week trip through 4 states from Monday 11/9 thru Thursday 11/12. We stayed in West Family first floor suite and it was wonderful. We were apparently in a between time, especially since it was during the week. We ate at the Trustee's Table... More

Shakertown shows life as lived many years back; simple yet hard; survived by working together. It's a nice area to walk through & learn about and wonder how would "you" survive.

We visited Shaker in June 2015. We stayed in the West Lot house near the stables. The accommodations were bare but very comfortable with Tempurpedic mattresses and a very clean room. You will have trouble finding any wifi which was actually very nice. The barns are extremely well maintained and the trails were absolute perfection. We were looking forward to... More

This restaurant got some great reviews on this website but my friends and I were not too impressed with the restaurant. Breakfast was better than our dinner. This is not a reflection of the Shaker Village as a whole. I gave the Village and the guest accommodations my highest rating in a separate review. Perhaps it lacked the quality you... More
