Yummy country food

While traveling we searched tripadvisor for a place to have lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed Back Home. It was country cooking at it's best. Extremely casual, but the food was fantastic. Would definitely eat here again!

This is in an old house close to the quaint downtown of Elizabethtown KY. You walk to your table/booth through what used to be small rooms in the house. Each room has just a few table or booths making your dining seem to be almost private. The menu is simple meals and great (unique) sandwiches. The turkey sandwich ($6) was... More

My husband and I wanted a "southern" lunch while visiting southwestern Kentucky. We read Trip Advisor's reviews of this locally owned restaurant and decided to dine here. The quaint building and rustic atmosphere was lively and unique, the service excellent, and the food was very good especially the side dishes - broccoli casserole- corn pudding, hash brown casserole. The crafts... More

When we're craving really well prepared comfort food, there is really only one place in town to go: Back Home. It's hard to turn down their open face roast beef over mashed potatoes and gravy; thick chunks of roast beef (not the thin sliced like some places do that reminds you of your deli) but really savory, slow cooked and... Stopped here for dinner because of the reviews and wasn't disappointed. I ate meat loaf, mashed potatoes, corn pudding and the cornbread. Everything tasted homemade and was wonderful. I question whether the food is sitting in steam tables all day or does the kitchen have a bank of microwaves. Food that has to be prepared doesn't arrive at the table... More

We have visited here twice for lunch, both times when driving through KY. Both experiences were incredible. The food is prepared on site, and is perfectly seasoned. The first time I had the bacon, lettuce, and fried green tomato sandwich--delicious! This time I had the pulled pork. One of my sides was a great sweet potato casserole! Our friends thought... More

Driving through from Florida to Illinois TripAdvisor led us to try Back Home. It was just what we needed. The prices, menu and time involved were similar to a Cracker Barrel but the food was much better. The restaurant is a renovated period home and is filled to the brim with crafts, decor items and rustic furniture. The staff was... More

If you're looking for down home cooking - this is the place!! Corn pudding, broccolli caserole, hash brown caserole (NOT the dried out stuff from Cracker Barrel), pecan cranberry salad and deserts are AMAZING! If you are on I-65 in KY, it's worth a detour. This was our second trip there in 2 years so we can also speak for... More

Amazing restored home with nice gift shop area. Bought a beautiful infinity scarf. Service fast and professional. Delicious Ruth Hunt candy available. Pinto beans good, cornbread fresh and crumbly, chicken salad average, fried green tomatoes good, fried chicken good, just a little dry. Overall unique and different place to eat, would come again.
