I had one of the three pork selections that was the special of the night, but it looked just like a big plate of brown meat. I think a bit of parsley and tomato wedge and a carrot stick would have added a lot to the appearance. The taste was good, although it was supposed to have spinach underneath and... More

I have been here for business lunches and pleasure brunches, and I would have to say that the former was the better of the two.

Memories of Spoon Bread from my childhood started here. Subsequently, my mom made it at home. The dining room is lovelier than I remember it from the 1970's. The hotel lobby and sitting areas represent southern decor with beautiful darkly stained floors with yellow the predominant color of comfortable yet elegant furnishings. The food quality is very good, but I... More

Would have been a great meal with wine! I had a chef special mussel and shrimp stew which was excellent. The spoon bread served as a house speciality is an acquired taste!

This is a beautiful restaurant, but the breakfast was just okay. Our coffee and hot tea weren't hot, but we did receive improved beverages upon request. Our server, a local student, was very nice and sweet, but perhaps a bit new at the job. Despite the light crowd, it took quite a while for us to be served, which was... More

Excellent food selection and service. We returned for breakfast and then dessert for lunch the next day. We look forward to next time. Student wait staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the school and the town.

I’m giving this place high praise, but with some reluctance. The historic Boone Tavern’s Bowling Dining Room (aka “Boone Tavern Restaurant”) is one of those really special restaurants that you don’t want to see publicized too loudly and widely lest it become too popular, with resultant crowding and price increases. The ambience of the place is terrific, the service is... More

We had been looking very forward to our meal at Boone Tavern. We were very disappointed. The restaurant was not busy. We were seated by the hostess relatively promptly. We however did not see our server until we had been seated for about 10 minutes. The salads were very good. The spoon bread was outstanding, as always. The rest of... More

We had a groupon we purchased that was for a stay at the inn and included a $30 food voucher. The service was excellent, and we got to talk to our server a bit as she was also a hiker. They give you a inn specialty - spoon bread, croo between cornbread and a corn casserole. My husband had a... More

It seems this place gets worse every time we visit. We had reservations for a Saturday afternoon and did get a table by the window as we wanted. To begin with someone comes around to the table and gives you spoonbread mortally this is done before your order comes, in our case after our food arrived. I had ordered un... More
