Declined from the "old days"

We used to stop at Boone Tavern every time we went south. We loved the spoon bread and the relish trays that were carried around and served over and over. The food was wonderful as was the service. However over the past 10 years or so we have been very disappointed. It was nice to have the dress... read more

I have lived in Berea for 10 years and my first visit was not at all what others have experienced. The server was rude and I still don't know his name. The food was tasteless and expensive. I ordered pork chops, they were barely warm and dry. The other couples were not happy with their choices or the service either.... More

Our dinner there was outstanding in regards to food selection and taste. We really loved the wine selection as well, but the food was tremendous! Our server was not. She was not well prepared to serve a table at a restaurant such as this. If we are going to spend the amount of money on a fine meal, service needs... More

My husband ordered the pork chops with grits. I ordered the chicken in a basket with a fresh green salad and crispy green beans. Both were excellent, as well as the Florentine Soup. An added treat was a serving of their famous spoon bread..Yum! We enjoyed the excellent service of a very congenial and experienced waiter. It was a pleasant... More

This is the second time I have visited. The food is awesome and the atmosphere wonderful. Service was great. Well worth the cost. I hope to visit again. Take the extra time to venture off the interstate for this one!

Today we decided to leave Interstate 75 for a brief side-trip into Berea, KY to visit the Boone Tavern & Hotel. We arrived for an early lunch, and they were still organizing. Our little lunch time trip took over an hour, but we were able to be seated in a lovely dining room in an historic hotel. The wait staff... More

Stopped in Berea, Ky on the way to Florida as friends had recommended the Boone Tavern Restaurant. We know why they had such praise for this place. Don't think for a minute this is a modern day "tavern." The dining room in this historic 1909 hotel is beautifully decorated and has big picture windows, white tablecloths and on a cold... More

My DH and I ate lunch at Daniel Boone Tavern for lunch on a Saturday in March. There was no wait, so we are immediately seated. Our waitress was wonderful and so attentive. A server came around with a hot pan serving warm spoon bread right from the pan!!! It was a type of cornbread and it was delicious. I... More

We had a very good experience at Boone Tavern. The service was prompt and friendly, the spoonbread was delicious, and the bread pudding that we ordered was off the charts good. The restaurant is set in a historic hotel which is very nicely decorated and clean. Our family has also had breakfast there in the past and we were not... More

Part of the Historic Boone Tavern Hotel of Berea College, they serve breakfast, brunch, and dinner. We were staying at the hotel, but reservations are still highly recommended. Students do all the serving, and are quite accommodating. Spoon bread is brought around frequently, and you can ask for as much as you’d like. Some unusual dishes are served, and worth... More
