The food was very good and the service was also good. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. The food is very good, but in my eyes overpriced.
Beautifully prepared food for the most part. However, I had a very strong suspicion that the mashed potatoes were "instant": musty taste. Very disappointed in this one item. My roast chicken was expertly prepared and very flavorful. The spoonbread and butter, which I'd never had before, was so good that I'd jump in a tub of it and happily eat... More
The flavors, the presentation, and the service was impeccable. It was a little pricier than anticipated, but knowing everything was sourced locally, I knew the freshness would be part of the flavor. I would go back. Well worth it...
This was our second time in as many years eating at this establishment and the food quality has gone down, not up. My husband had a roast beef sandwich on a pretzel roll. The taste of the meat was not real pronounced and it was a sloppy sandwich to pick up and eat. I had the Lexington Sandwich which had... More
We have eaten at the Tavern numerous times in the past, but just haven’t been in Berea for a long time. Were really pleasantly surprised by the update to the dining area and the whole establishment. Food was first rate, service excellent, and the overall feel of the place a pleasant reminder of good times in the past. This should... More
Traveling North or South on I75? Must stop for lunch at Boone Tavern in Berea KY.,exit #77 follow signs for 2 miles. Food, service, atmosphere all first class and not over priced. An historic hotel and tavern, charming atmosphere, and good food. Comfortable overnight rooms. Excellent buffets on special occasions -- Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and such. Staffed by students, and others affiliated with Berea College, across the street.
My wife an I reserved a table for the Sunday Brunch. We were seated immediately and attended to immediately by a very pleasant waitress. Linens on the table and a very very nice atmosphere to dine in. Overlooking the busy street through the picture windows gives the restaurant a very nice feel. The brunch is in a room adjacent to... Glad to patronize this restaurant just for the history & support to Berea College. Had a lovely breakfast of omelets and great biscuits that was reasonably priced. Servers are students, who were quite apologetic at the length of time it took for our orders (new computer launched that morning) and their sincerity overcame any impatience.
Visited Boone Tavern for Dinner on November 4, 2013 and was looking forward to a nice dining experience. We have eaten there for lunch and had wonderful food - in fact the best catfish I have ever eaten but dinner was not. I ordered Fried Green tomatoes that were more than crispy and the pork chop dinner left a lot... More
