Pleasant lunch in a lovely setting

We had a very enjoyable lunch here. We didn't have a reservation but the Maitre D' was very accommodating and after a half hour wait, we were offered a table. The waiting staff were very attentive. The food was traditional and very well cooked. I had the catfish and thoroughly enjoyed it... read more

I finally got to enjoy dinner here on a cold, very rainy, night a few days before Christmas. For many years, I've passed through the Berea area, but either the timing or other commitments had kept me from eating here. I did have breakfast about a year ago, and have nothing but compliments for the Kentucky country ham with red... More

Great place in Berea. Great salads and I love the fried green tomatoes. My friend had the ravioli and he eat the whole thing. Wonderful service and glad we stopped here.

Our bill (two adults and a child) came to over $30, but the "splurge" seemed worth it. The servers were super friendly and attentive. The food was cooked to order -- seriously. We asked for extra-crispy bacon and it was extra crispy!! All of the food was delicious (eggs, bacon, home fries, pancakes, etc), but if you like cheese grits,... More

This is a beautiful and historic building. We visited with friends from Corbin who raved about the meals served here. Unfortunately, when we arrived after church on Sunday, menu service was unavailable. All that we had available to us was the Sunday brunch buffet. The place was almost empty, which is always a bad sign for a buffet. However, since... More

Four of us visited the Tavern for lunch during the week after Christmas. They were short-staffed, so we could not be seated early. The choices on the menu were very unusual with many selections served in cream or cheese sauces ( a bit rich). The Hot Brown was much appreciated by our native Kentuckian; she said this was the best... More

Visited the dining room on December 21st with my 7 year old grandson. I had second thoughts about eating dinner because it is very expensive for a 7 year old. But, much to my surprise they do have a children's menu which made it more affordable. I do not eat beef, rabbit or lamb so there were not many choices.... More

One can't go wrong with either the Tavern Classic Plate or the Seasonal Omelet - there is more than enough food to satisfy even the hungriest of travellers with either. I really enjoyed the classic plate - eggs, choice of meat, choice of biscuits or toast and home fries or grits, sausage gravy, locally sourced jams, smooth coffee. Our server... More

The menue, though not extensive, offers enough tradisional dishes to satisfy most appetites. This restaurant is primarlly staffed by Berea College students working through school. The service varries, is uneven, but the wait time is not excessive most of the time. We would dine here again if in this part of Kentucky. The atmosphere is relaxing.

After reading many of the reviews on here we were a little apprehensive about eating here. We love to eat at storied locations, so we gave it a try anyway. We are glad we did. We highly recommend the Sunday Brunch. The atmosphere is definitely worthy of high marks. It is a white table cloth dining experience. So very formal,... More
