Four of chose this restaurant per Trip Advisor reviews. Bad choice! Despite the fact that the restaurant was only half-filled, we were summarily neglected for 15 minutes before a waitress finally brought us menus. Then we were neglected again before our beverage order AND she had to be reminded twice to bring water. (BTW, when she refilled water, she just... More

Looked charming and few reviews made it sound worth trying. After being seated we waited 10 minutes to be noticed by our server. Had to ask hostess if we even had a server. Finally took drink order and brought water. Waited another 5 to 10 min. For drinks, hostess brought rolls but we had no break,a d plates. Drinks arrived... More

The Old Talbott Tavern has been in continuous business since the American Revolution. Sometimes these old places are more history than menu but that is not the case with the Talbott Tavern. The food was excellent and the bourbon selection was vast. Burgoo is a spicy Kentucky soup that I have tried all over the Commonwealth. Talbott's burgoo was fabulous.... More

We were out for two days on the Bourbon Trail and visiting a Nine brew houses we stopped for an evening meal with the three other couples. The ladies walked around the square shopping and the four guys got a table at the Old Talbott Tavern Bourbon Bar. We had two hours to kill before our reservation and enjoyed both... More

We had dinner reservations for five couples during our first night on our 2014 Bourbon Trail Trip. It was nice to have a very private dining area. We were able to enjoy our meal with not only good food but great conversation. Our waiter was very unobtrusive. The only complaint was from one of the women that felt her fried... More

I really wanted to stay at Old Talbott Tavern during my recent visit to Bardstown but it was pretty much sold out, so I had to settle on just having dinner there. I took a chance and with the encouragement of our waiter, I ordered the fried catfish and it was totally worth it... beautifully cooked, coated in cornmeal, it... More

We dropped in for a drink and stayed for more. We walked to no seats at the bar. The next we know the owners wife had many of the regulars move down the bar to make room for us and then she gave us a real welcome to Bardstown. Great drinks at really low prices. I could easily spend many... More

That is the main reason to come here. We were in the original section. There are 2 other sections and a large bar that have been added but have a similar ambience. I had the Hot Brown and my wife had the pot roast. Very good reasonable prices for the food and drinks. Service was acceptable. The one concern is... More

The food was good but it took forever to get it... And it is a loud place... You know.. Rock walls, hardwood floors.. Loud... The room was full so we asked to move and they were great to let us.. Nice place.. Enjoyed dinner and coffee.

Apparently this is the oldest bar in Kentucky. True or not this is still an awesome old bar in neat little downtown Bardstown. We arrived around 4pm and the restaurant area seemed dead so we sat in the bar. Mostly local people with a few tourists like us. Since we were just at Maker's Mark we decided to stick with... More
