We will have to give this another shot, as they were very busy today when we went. They were short handed, and had a large party in one of the rooms. There were 9 of us, and our poor little server ran he legs off trying to take care of us. Wish I remembered her name. The hot Browns were... read more

We stopped in The old talbott tavern for lunch when we arrived in town. The food was absolutely amazing, and the prices were unbelievable for the amount of food we got. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is I think they may have been shorthanded and we had to keep asking for refills.

Talbot Tavern is located in the heart of Bardstown, KY. Talbot Tavern has a restaurant, bed and breakfast, and tavern/bar all in one location. Imagine walking in the footsteps as such great historians as Abraham Lincoln, Jesse James, or Daniel Boone. Ask to be seated in the dining room which was the original stagecoach for this area. So much history!... More

We went on a Tuesday evening after some distillery touring. We sat in the bar, good drinks, but dinner food not particularly good. Should have ordered a burger I guess. But thought we needed to try this historic spot.

We had lunch here while visiting Bardstown on the Craft Distillery Tour. The Old Talbott Tavern was built in 1779, making it the oldest western stagecoach stop still in operation. Daniel Boone, Louis-Philippe of France, Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln, Henry Clay, John Fitch, John James Audubon, Stephen Foster, & Jesse James have all stayed here. The history... More

We like to find unique places to eat when we are traveling and this place fit the bill. The food was typical pub fare. Burgers were tasty. We had an appetizer sampler of fried pickle chips, peppers and tomatoes which was very good as well. The only downside was that we had to wait a while--their were plenty of tables... More

Ive eating several times and always satisfied. I had the Tavern burger and fries which were excellent. The home made chips are great also. Service is superb. Just love the building and the history. If like bourbon, they a sampler that you try from a very large selection of spirits. Oh, tried the burgoo, very good with a bite

The Old Talbott Tavern is a very historical building. It used to be a stagecoach stop on the Louisville to Nashville route. The atmosphere was nice and the wait staff friendly and helpful. As far as the food. It was average. Good size meals and well prepared.

This old building is right in the center of town, across the street from the visitor center. It's easy to take pictures of, and there are other historical building nearby, very close.

We have been going to The Old Talbott Tavern off and on for several decades. We have stayed at the tavern and enjoyed our stay. This trip we were told by several local people that the quality of food had declined. They are correct! When we arrived, we were told that the old tavern dining area was closed for fumigation....
