Worthy stop

My wife and I stopped here while in the area. We shared a dinner to save room for dessert as others have suggested. Food was very good and dessert was worth saving room for. Although $7 for a small dish of bread pudding is quite a stretch.

My wife and I have been to Bardstown four times but this is the first time we ate at Kurtz Restaurant. We have been missing out. Great food, good prices and good service to boot. Don't miss this place.

The food here is all made from scratch and fresh. The fried chicken is fried in lard so if you're really health conscious you might want to choose something else. The owner is on site and a great ambassador for her restaurant. This is real southern down home cooking, right down to the mile high coconut cream pie. I would... More

A great selection of meals combined with a delightful atmosphere and friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable too. Their desserts are so wonderful! Parking is limited though. Well worth the parking spot wait.

We had a table for 10 last night before seeing the Stephen Foster Story. They were good about taking our last minute reservation. Try and make one, as the restaurant is in an old house and rather limited seating. I ordered the chicken Parmesan, and it was very good. The fried cornbread is excellent, but don't fill up on it... Our inn keepers suggested Kurtz's. The menu has lots of choices but they recommended the pan fried chicken. Family owned & operated since 1937. Wanted to enjoy a real southern food dining experience & we were very pleased. The fried chicken isn't sitting under a warmer. It's cooked when you order it so there is a little wait but well... The Kurtz family have run this restaurant for over 80 years. This is simple, good, home cooking. The skillet-fried chicken is some of the best I've ever tasted: crispy on the outside, moist and juicy meat. Great mashed potatoes and gravy, very good green beans seasoned with bacon drippings, wonderful coconut cream pie with high, high meringue. The meal took... More

This rustic, family-owned restaurant serves classic comfort food, simply but expertly prepared. We had lunch as part of a tour group. We arrived early, but they were ready for us and made us all welcome and got our drink orders right away. Hostess offered a bit of history (her mom runs the kitchen, she and her daughter serve the guests).... More

Cool lunch experience in an old 1800's home. The pick 3 provided was tasty and a nice meal. The veggie soup was very good. The 1/2 chicken salad was bit lite. It could have used more chicken salad or maybe a slice of tomato and lettuce. The ham sandwich was very good as were the deserts. The burger a bit... More

My family ate here while on vacation. Be prepared to spend about $20 per plate. The food was excellent; however, the service wasn't the best. My kids had to sit at a table near us, and they received very poor service. We will go back, but next time my kids will sit with the adults.
