The heart of deliciousness

Kurtz’s, a family restaurant in the very historic city of Bardstown, Kentucky, sits across from Federal Hill, the plantation house known as My Old Kentucky Home and now a state park. If you’re in town for antiquing, crafting, Bourbon Trailing, golfing, etc., and want a delicious lunch, you really... read more

I just love the atmosphere of this restaurant. You feel like you're back in the day. We had a great server , Anne. The food was delishious and the inexpensive. I wish I would have got more pictures to share. If your in town and your looking for an enjoyable place to dine, give Kurtz a try.

We got there Sunday evening after they'd had a large weekend crowd but were warmly greeted, quickly seated, and treated to a freshly-cooked meal. They have a special slaw (vinegar based) that they are famous for, and for good reason. All meals come with beets, fried cornbread, and green beans. Our meals also included rolls. Mom had the special of... More

This historical family restaurant is right across the street from 'My Old Kentucky Home' State Park. It was time for lunch and my husband and I decided to stop here. (Actually, before we left on our weekend get-a-way, my brother suggested that we eat here if we had a chance.) At first, we thought it was going to be a

We stopped at Kurtz for lunch on a Saturday while on a tour bus on the Bourbon Trail. The lunch was included in the tour price so the menu was set. We were served the cole slaw, baked ham, red skin potatoes, baked apples with roles and skillet cornbread and desert. I thought the cole slaw was delicious. It was... More

Was in town for my Aunt's 100th birthday celebration last weekend. I had been searching online for the perfect place, for about 15 of our family members, to have a birthday lunch. From the first call to Kurtz, then having to change the date because we couldn't get in on that Friday....cuz of the snowstorm....to the moment we walked through... More

Restaurant in an old home, the food is what I might call comfort food - you get plenty to eat, it is uniformly good to excellent and it is a friendly and welcoming restaurant. We have been there several times and we know we can get a good meal, at a reasonable price, not be rushed in eating whilst still... More

"Home cooking" in that they linked up with our tour company. Really not worth going out of your way for. Quaint doesn't equate to quality food.

Such a nice atmosphere that the very good food becomes even better. Down home food. High quality. Great service; beautiful building.
