Family Dinner in a Family Restaurant

Five of us rolled in for dinner after 4 hours on our motorcycles. The matriarch greeted us at the door and the family hospitality continued throughout our meal. Several of us had the "Kentucky Brown", made better with bacon! The food and service were wonderful. Although they do not serve beer or... read more

Was looking for a good 'Mom and Pop' restaurant in Bardtown. My husband remember a place where he had breakfast when he was in the Army Reservers so luckily we found it again. Ran by the same family and expanded. I had the pork lion and my husband had the roast turkey and dressing. Both delicious and the sides/corn bread... More

My husband and I was in Bardstown, we decided to try Kurtz out and we are happy we did. I got roast beef with mashed potatoes and that was the best roast beef w/potatoes I have ever had. If I went back again I would have the same thing. My husband had baked fish and he enjoyed it. The food... More

We stopped here to have lunch after visiting My Old Kentucky Home. We had the spinach salad which was very good and also had a chicken salad sandwich. The sandwich tasted as if it was from a distributor instead of homemade. The decor of the restaurant was nice but we would rate the food as only OK.

My husband and I checked Trip Advisor before we went to Kurtz and the reviews were glowing! My husband had the 10 oz sirloin, which he said was cooked perfectly. The fried corn bread was also a treat. What a surprise to each have spiced beets before our meal. My husband loved them so much and he stole mine! I... More

We visit Kurtz Restaurant every time we are near Bardstown. It is a small restaurant that serves "home cooking". I highly recommend their country ham. I love country ham and Kurtz serves the best. My wife enjoyed the fried chicken. She said it tasted like the fried chicken her mother made. The pickled beets that come with the meal are... More

From our research into area restaurants, we wanted to have dinner here, but it didn't work out, so on our final day, we stopped for a quick "lunch" - hard to really evaluate a restaurant just based on lunch/dessert - my wife had soup-and half sandwich ("ok") and I opted for their Chess Pie (good, but didn't "knock my socks... My husband and I ate here on our Bourbon Trail getaway. It is located in an old house that was converted into a restaurant. We were seated close to the kitchen (I don't know why, since the restaurant wasn't crowded at all). Our waitress - Sharon I believe - was really nice. I had the fried chicken and my husband... More
