All about the pie

This rustic, family-owned restaurant serves classic comfort food, simply but expertly prepared. We had lunch as part of a tour group. We arrived early, but they were ready for us and made us all welcome and got our drink orders right away. Hostess offered a bit of history (her mom runs the kitchen... read more

The Kurtz family have run this restaurant for over 80 years. This is simple, good, home cooking. The skillet-fried chicken is some of the best I've ever tasted: crispy on the outside, moist and juicy meat. Great mashed potatoes and gravy, very good green beans seasoned with bacon drippings, wonderful coconut cream pie with high, high meringue. The meal took... More

Cool lunch experience in an old 1800's home. The pick 3 provided was tasty and a nice meal. The veggie soup was very good. The 1/2 chicken salad was bit lite. It could have used more chicken salad or maybe a slice of tomato and lettuce. The ham sandwich was very good as were the deserts. The burger a bit... More

My family ate here while on vacation. Be prepared to spend about $20 per plate. The food was excellent; however, the service wasn't the best. My kids had to sit at a table near us, and they received very poor service. We will go back, but next time my kids will sit with the adults.

Just as I recalled from 16 years ago. Skillet fried chicken is the only thing to order, and the pan fried corn patties, so good! Lovely staff, reasonable prices and attentive service. Old fashioned, so don't think you're in for an ironic or hip experience. Go for what it is....old style and proud of it. The skillet chicken is world... More

Was looking for a good 'Mom and Pop' restaurant in Bardtown. My husband remember a place where he had breakfast when he was in the Army Reservers so luckily we found it again. Ran by the same family and expanded. I had the pork lion and my husband had the roast turkey and dressing. Both delicious and the sides/corn bread... More

My husband and I was in Bardstown, we decided to try Kurtz out and we are happy we did. I got roast beef with mashed potatoes and that was the best roast beef w/potatoes I have ever had. If I went back again I would have the same thing. My husband had baked fish and he enjoyed it. The food... More

We stopped here to have lunch after visiting My Old Kentucky Home. We had the spinach salad which was very good and also had a chicken salad sandwich. The sandwich tasted as if it was from a distributor instead of homemade. The decor of the restaurant was nice but we would rate the food as only OK.

My husband and I checked Trip Advisor before we went to Kurtz and the reviews were glowing! My husband had the 10 oz sirloin, which he said was cooked perfectly. The fried corn bread was also a treat. What a surprise to each have spiced beets before our meal. My husband loved them so much and he stole mine! I... More

We visit Kurtz Restaurant every time we are near Bardstown. It is a small restaurant that serves "home cooking". I highly recommend their country ham. I love country ham and Kurtz serves the best. My wife enjoyed the fried chicken. She said it tasted like the fried chicken her mother made. The pickled beets that come with the meal are... More
