Definitely southern cooking! The fried chicken was awesome! The pickled beets they serve were delicious as well. The restaurant seems a little old/outdated decor, but the food will make up for it!

enjoyed our visit. Server was very nice; owner (assume it was: older lady) seemed not so hospitable. Food was very good: got the chicken. Loved the milk gravy and dessert (cobbler).

I saw this restaurant in AAA tour book and thought it sounded interesting. This was the best meal I have had since touring the South for the past week! The cooking was as good as my Mississippi grandmother's. Save room for the pies ... They are to die for. I highly recommend this family owned restaurant.

We (four couples) were doing the Bourbon Trail and started looking for a place to have dinner. The reviews on Trip-advisor looked interesting, so we thought we would stop in. We were seated around 8 pm on a Saturday night. Our waitress was Ann and she was absolutely the best. She remembered everything we requested and did it with a... More

Had lunch there yesterday with my friend and it was excellent. We had the luncheon special which was $9.95. 1/2 sandwich, bowl of soup and a piece of home made lemon mirangue pie that was to die for. Will definitely go back.

Kurtz is a staple of the Bardstown scene. They serve excellent down home southern food. We had ham, fried chicken, corn pudding and for dessert, their special bourbon biscuit pudding. It is definitely worth the calories!

We come to Bardstown often and always eat here at least once. Although the last time while in town we had dinner twice. My wife had the fried chicken livers I had the prime rib. The chicken livers were done but not crispy they tasted greasy and were wet like they had been warmed up. The prime rib was very... More

I had heard that Kurtz restaurant was the place to eat when in Bardstown. I regret making the decision to eat there for the following reasons. There are two dining areas, one bright room up front, and a darker room in the rear. We ate in the darker room and wish we had been seated in the front room. I... More

We drove by this restaurant not knowing anything about it, only to have it recommended by a local shop owner. We drove back and WOW was it worth it! The house/restaurant décor is comfy cozy and welcoming. I am not a beet fan by any means, but they brought them out along with freshly made corn muffins and I must... More

We enjoyed a great lunch at Kurtz's after touring one of the local distilleries. They had a lunch special of 1/2 a sandwich and soup which included their delicious homemade skillet corn bread. I had a pimento cheese sandwich that was great and the cup of broccoli cheese soup that was probably the best I've ever had. My husband had... More
