David Kanai is a professionaly trained sushi chef, who also has an extensive Japenese menu as well. Fresh fish is flown in from the coast as well as Japan for some incredible delacies that we've never had the opportunity to try here in Wichita. He is wonderfully informative and builds your meal based on your taste and interests. Meaning if you're not into "raw fish" he will assist you in going through the wide variety of cooked options to find something that you'll love. Penny & Chris Ellis have opened a restaurant to showcase David's talents.

Best sushi in Wichita.....

My boyfriend and I love going to this place! We love the Sea of Japan and many other dishes. The food is always good. The service varies-sometimes it's good and sometimes it is a little slow. Overall it is a nice place to have dinner.

Kanai is our second favorite restaurant in Wichita. We love expertly prepared food. Kanai delivers. The owner/chef is at the prep table perfectly slicing fish and rolling the sushi every time we visit. The pride he takes in his restaurant is evident in every bite. My husband's favorite is the Wow2. We always buy a bottle of the Gold &... More

This is hands down the best place for sushi and sashimi in Wichita. The fish is always so fresh and the service is always great. You cannot find a better place for Japanese food in Wichita... I've tried most of them. I suggest trying their sashimi and asking for their best-selling sushi. You will come back for more. I drive... More

Having tasted authentic sushi in Japan as well as so-called "sushi" in the U.S., I was a little skeptical of this restaurant's dishes. That skepticism was instantly gone once I stepped into this restaurant. I was greeted with the front staff with a shout of "welcome" in Japanese followed by a little dish of appetizer. Green tea was great, and... More

had heard many positive reviews and have been excited to see for ourselves. we were not let down. something for everyone, even the amateur sushi tryers in our group... I think you'll be just as happy you stopped by as we were.

On January 10, 2013 I submitted a poor review and I am happy to say they have redeemed themselves. My sister in law drug me back to try again and our waiter, Tyler, was wonderful!! He recommended the Shinjyuku roll and it was Amazing!! I will be coming back with my husband very soon.

We've eaten here twice, both times it was very good. The first time, I had the QP-YAKI bowl, with seafood baked into a bowl covered with a crunchy fish roe topping. It was very, very good - not the typical Wichita food fare! My wife had sushi rolls both times and she liked it very much. We also had the... More

I ordered three rolls and they were really good up until I found a bone in a piece of one of them. When I told the waiter he apologized but did not tell the management. So I decided to try one more time and the very next piece at a bigger bone in it. When I told the waiter he... More

Chef Kanai and his staff serve up some of the best sushi you will get anywhere in the U.S. The fish is fresh and of the highest quality. Chef Kanai is meticulous in his selection of ingredients, preparation and presentation. The menu has something for everyone and the blend of textures and flavors of the rolls is off the chart....
