Most underrated place in Lawrence

I think Aladdin is the best, most reasonably priced restaurant in Lawrence. Everything is great and, believe me, I really have had everything. The lamb chops are cooked to perfection and would cost twice as much anywhere else. Vegetarians will love Cauliflower Zahra-one of my personal faves. Mr... read more

My husband and I opted to have a lunch here and it was well worth it. We split an appetizer of feta cheese, pita bread (toasted just right) and olives. Excellent and well worth the low cost. Then we split a gyro plate that had lovely strips of meat, grilled mixed vegetables and a saffron rice. Excellent and plenty for... More

I had no trouble finding this place but I did not know parking would be an issue. This was my first time in town and was unaware of the parking situation on Mass Ave. 2 hours parking meters and I was later told free past 6pm. My server also told me it's easier to park behind. Okay lesson learned. Low... More

My wife and I traveled from Des Moines to a concert and decided to try some unfamiliar foods at Aladdin cafe. We brought our own bottle of wine due to the no corking fee and let the waiter choose our meal for us. We had large sampler appetizer plate and shared a lamb entree. The food was great and although... More

If you like healthy, home made middle eastern food, go here. Contrary to another review, I don't believe it's suppose to be Greek. This family run establishment has delicious food and an affordable Sunday brunch if you want to try lots of different things. Jasmine vegetarian combo or gyro sandwich are my favorites. Wife loves the kunafa.

My friend recalled the Aladdin from when she was a Lawrence resident, so chose it for dinner as we passed through town yesterday. We were hungry and wanted it all, but decided instead to be reasonable and have a plate that included a good variety. We both ordered a plate that included falafel, dolmati, hummus, baba ghanouj , genie dip,... More

I was expecting somewhat close to authentic greek food... greek salad? That's not a greek salad. Rice and grape leaves - oversoaked in vinegar. Tsaziki sauce was unrecognizable, it was more like milk than sauce... so disappointing. The meat was decent enough. The pita was, however, amazing. And we had hoped to finish off our meal with tiramisu, but they... More

We had the gyro sandwiches with rice and salad for $7.95. Huge amount of food for the price and the gyro was a as good as we've ever had. Also had the spinach pastry appetizer and it was wonderful. Love this place.
