Brew Pub/sports bar

We hadn't been here for a while, so we thought we'd give it a try for dinner after a soccer game. The food and service were good and definitely an improvement over our last visit. I had Thai Pasta and thought it was very good. Others had turkey burger, classic flat bread, house salad with... read more

We have been to this spot several times so the "average" rating does not seem to deter us from returning. In fact, several other families we go with really like 23rd St. I find it completely functional, but largely average. The staff are always pleasant and accommodating. The menu is fairly broad, kind of like a brewery-themed Applebee's. The beer... More

We thought the food was OK - it was a nice setting - I would probably return. Nothing spectacular however.

It was a beautiful spring evening and we were looking for a place with a decent selection of craft beers and outdoor seating. They have a nice outdoor patio and a great selection of 10 beers brewed on-site. I ordered the 10-beer tasting flight and found a number of excellent beers, and a few I would definitely come back for... More

We've been doing our own mini brewery tours of area microbreweries found in KC Ale Trail. Today we're in Lawrence starting at 23rd Street. We usually try a sampler flight to try as many of the different brews offered. We enjoyed 5 of 9 of the beers on tap. We ranked them as 1 - Crimson Phog, 2 - Daybreak... More

This was my second visit. Wasn't too impressed by the first visit but it was acceptable. This visit was less spectacular! Visited on St. Patrick's day; beer was warm and almost flat. Mashed potatoes were way over-seasoned. Rest of the meal was ok at best. Service is lacking but not rude. Employees aren't very knowledgable about the menu or beer.... More

After the Texas @ KU Men's Basketball game, they handled a LARGE rush ofr sports fans very well. While the hostess seemed intent on quoting an hour to hour and a half to us, we were determined to eat with our group of 8. We were seated in less than an hour and enjoyed the time with our family and... More

Horrible, horrible service. Saw our waitress like two times/ no silverware/ had to ask multiple times for it. Appetizers and food cr out at same time- no apologies. Do not bring a large party here if you want to eat at all. Ordered a house salad- took 50 minutes to get it. Still waiting on silverware.

Pretty meh trip overall... the beer isn't nearly as good as Free State. Much less hop focus. Food was OK, typical bar food. Definitely appealing to the KU bar scene. On the plus side, the servers are universally attractive coeds from the university, so plenty to look at if that's what you're into. :)

Usually brewpubs don't do food quite as well as their beers, but here I was surprised. Our daughter's mac & cheese special was quite tasty, and my flatbread pizza was much better than I had expected. The three beers on offer were OK, with the Irish red the real standout. Very prompt and efficient service in spite of a crowded... More
