Based on a recommendation from a friend we decided to go to the "original" Oklahoma Joe's which is located in/next to a gas station. But, it is an exceptional dining experience - not for nothing did Anthony Bordain suggest it was one of 13 places he wanted to eat at before he died. The restaurant opened at 11 and when... More

We waited over an hour in line in the hot summer sun. Since Anthony Bourdain loved this place, we figured it was worth the wait. After ordering, I didn't get what I ordered. The pork sandwich that I got was good, but not worth waiting in line an hour for. Maybe the Carolina Pork Sandwich would have been worth it.... More

47th Street location (original location) is in a gas station. We went at 7 and the line was long. After a 30 minutes, we finally ordered and boy was it worth the wait! We tried the pork, ribs & brisket - all were excellent. It's a can't miss.

THE best barbecue you will find. The location in the gas station definitely adds to the experience. Yes the lines are long, but it is SO worth the wait. The lines show how wonderful it is. Locals flock to this place. The Z man is the best and the fries are really really good. Bring friends, talk in line, and... More

We had seen this restaurant reviewed on TV and couldn't wait to eat there...it did not disappoint. I will return every time we are in Kansas City. If you have a large group...it will be difficult to find seating on busy nights. We did have to wait 30-45 minutes in line, but it was worth the wait!!

I was lucky and waited only 35 minutes in line to pick up a Z man for lunch, as I was eating it I concluded it was the absolute best sandwich I have ever eaten. So good I made it my first post on tripadvisor. Sometimes its okay to believe the hype.

I'm from Kansas City and have had great BBQ, decided to try Oklahoma Joe's since it has gotten such rave reviews. Could it be better than Gates, my personal favorite? Arthur Bryant's? Rosedale's? No. The ribs were good, fries & onions rings, too. But the tables are packed in so tightly that it is hard to walk between them, it... More

I lived in Kansas City for a number of years and remember it as the best BBQ in KC. For years locals would flock to this place, while tourists mostly go to Arthur Bryant's and Gates. Now, unfortunately or us, but fortunately for Ok. Joe's they have received so much publicity it became so popular it may take you 1.5... More

Fast and simple service moves the crowds. Be nice in line, have your order ready, pick up nicely, and enjoy the meat on or off a bone. No loser dishes here. Enjoy it, then get out. Winner
