Nice pub and staff, letdown by carvery and availbity of food orded.

We booked a table of six for a belated birthday celebration in a nice country pub with nice welcoming staff. We all went for the three course special at £11.95 and four ordered the Broccolli and Stilton soup, later was told the chef had dropped the soup so none was available, so we had to have the... read more

decided to treat my daughter to a carvery one lunch time knowing in the past the plough never dissepoints. We paid for our carvery and was shown to our table promptly. Then proceeded to the serving counter for what seemed to an enternity waiting for the chef to make a guest appearance. This gave me ample time to inspect to what... More

Food was overcooked. If you want a mound of food on your plate with little regard to the taste, this is the place for you! My family and I would prefer less of better quality. Overpriced at £10.95 with an extra £4.95 for dessert. Had to queue for a considerable time for the carvery, which is OK as long as... More

Stopped off on the way back from a trip. We were accommodated at a very busy time. The service was good. The food was good and the place is nice. I would recommend it

I've been to the Plough and Harrow on many occasions and personally always been very impressed by the carvery. There's always an excellent selection of vegetables and generally a choice of three meats. The veg is replenished regularly so you don't end up with the dregs. The dauphinois potatoes and the red cabbage are particular favourites of mine. My mum's... More

We went here for a family celebration meal, we had booked well in advance, but when we arrived they couldn't find our booking we had to wait while they tried to find a suitable table & were sent to a table sent for 16 when there were only 5 of us. When we finally did get to a table it... More

On the 20th February I booked a table for a party of five for my wifes birthday celebration. There was a disgusting accumulation of stale food etc between the leaves of the"Dropleaf"table where we ate our meal . It was captured by one of our guests on his "Smartphone" and forwarded to me today. I did mention this to the... More

Nice venue and overall good food and service. Will go back. Only a few little negatives; adult portions a tad too big, waitress a bit limp in ability but fine with guidance and kids spag bog was over garlicked!!

Enjoyed a lovely meal the carvery was second to none. Plenty of choice and fresh vegetables. Don't live in the area otherwise would dine there every week just for the carvery! Can't comment on prices as a family celebration and we were treated to the meal but judging by the amount of customers on a Thursday lunchtime I would say... More
