Went here with a group of friends. Didn't really fancy the set Sunday lunch and the BBQ was fired up so we thought we'd try that. I chose the burger expecting, at £7 (£9.50 if you include the smallest portion of soggy chips) for it to be homemade; sadly not. I don't object to paying a tenner for a burger... More

Had a good Sunday lunch, the menu is very competitively priced and well thought out. My only criticism would be, is that it would be nice to see more locally sourced ingredients, fish from whitstable, the name of the farm where the beef was reared and so on, It all adds to the experience and the authenticity. The staff where... More

We ordered the mushroom risotto at £13 each. When it arrived we thought it was the starter. The plate it was on was large and dwarfed the circle of rice in the centre. When the waitress asked us later if everything was alright we mentioned the measly size of the meal and was told that was the cook's portion. I... More

Went for lunch with my Mother. The food was nice but not exceptional and the service was terrible. I'm all for freshly cooked food but not when we sit there for 45 minutes waiting for it and then no apology for the wait! This was mid-week so not rushed. Think we'll pass in future.

Met my brother & sister in law at this lovely country pub & enjoyed a drink in the garden before going inside for a meal. Good value Sunday lunch- don't know what reference to portion size was, more than enough for us and will go again

Great Sunday lunch. Good quality and reasonable price. Not too sure what other reviewers meant by starters being like average pub grub starters, on the contrary we thought they were delicious. Mains, all four of us had the Roast Pork, was plentiful and the apple sauce quite devine. Vegetables cooked to how we like them. Only criticism... How dare they... More

We went for my husband's 65th birthday dinner and had yet another superb meal. He had the ham hock terrine, followed by the beef fillet and enjoyed both. He didn't have dessert this time but had two large Polish vodkas instead! I decided to be different and had the beetroot carpaccio to start, which was wonderfully fresh and extremely yummy.... More

8 of us went for my Dads Birthday lunch last sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner as did my family. I though it was perfect portions, however My Dad could have done with a larger roast dinner, was rather on the small side. The desserts were simply delicious, the highlight... They ran out of Sauvignon white and Whitstable bay, which... More

It promised so much but didn't deliver. The Dove is a beautiful pub in a picturesque setting with friendly helpful staff. We booked a table for four yesterday for Sunday Lunch. The food was beautifully presented but very average in content. The starters were ok but typical pub starters. I had the roast beef which was very tough and a... More

We booked a table for 6 for a lunch time birthday meal. The service was slow and haphazard. After the starters the birthday cake we bought was brought out by the staff? When asked if we could have it as a dessert they thought we had already had our main course. Judging by the wait I am not surprised. The... More

Dove I, Owner at The Dove Inn, responded to this review

We are extremely sorry that your birthday lunch did not turn out as you had wished. Unfortunately, we were somewhat overwhelmed over the bank holiday weekend and, due to staffing issues, were unable to ensure that all tables were served as quickly and efficiently as usual. We hope you will consider returning to try The Dove again. More
