We used to love coming to Saraj because the food was great. But we will no longer go there as the customer service is appalling! My wife and I ordered two different full meals and she wanted to taste mine. The server said that this isn’t allowed and “because we shared they have to charge a shared plate fee!” Had... More

We visited this Bosnian restaurant after my son raved over the Gryo. He eats here about 5 times a year. He was correct the Gyro are great. If you order a full one - good luck eating it all. Order half of one. My grand children ordered burgers from the kids meal. They were good sized and had great French... More

Visited Saraj for first time. Had Bosnian Gyro, Bosnian side salad & a water for $10. Spent another $5 for baklava. While very tasty, $15 is quite steep for a lunch that you order deli-style at the counter. More expensive than even downtown DSM places. Not sure if they will be able to compete with cheaper lunch fare offered by... More

If you're looking for a unique ethnic restaurant in the suburbs, program your GPS for Saraj in West Des Moines. This cozy little restaurant in an out-of-the-way strip mall is a wonderful surprise. The Bosnian salad and the pitas are outstanding. The bread is AMAZING! And the portions are generous--enough for 2 meals.

Saw the good rating on TA and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the great selection of unique food, quiet atmosphere, great wine and friendly staff. Great mushroom soup, excellent grilled meats and unusual salads. Try the cabbage salad or even better the Bosnian salad. Very reasonable prices and a place the crowds haven't found... More

My wife went there for a Girls Lunch Out and everyone reported liking the food, except for the Baklava. She brought some home and I agreed that it wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere. I went with a client a few weeks later and I had the Greek gyro. She had the Bosnian. Both were really good and we... More

A friend and I wanted something different for lunch today and we got it! I recommend the Bosnian gyro and the tomato, cucumber onion salad. Definitely enough to share.. We did and still took samples home to our husbands. Very fresh and I felt healthy!

The service is prompt and pleasant; the food is excellent, portions are generous, prices are reasonable. The place is immaculate, and shaded outside seating is available - just not in early March!
