Fresh Seafood in a Landlocked State

For those of us who crave seafood and can't get on a plane to the Gulf, the Waterfront is a good bet. Try the Po' Boy sandwiches or the shrimp dinners. The cole slaw is crispy and the french fries are thin and hot.

First visit to Des Moines. We were looking for a good quality dinner place and we're happy to see good reviews for here. Actually very good fish and seafood here in the middle of the country, because, they make the effort to fly in fresh food ! Had NE clam chowder and was as good as ever had. We had... More

All punning aside, Nick, Jessica and others have provided the type of service and quality seafood that Ted was known for. More than once I've been awestruck by the freshness and inspired dishes I've had here and in Ankeny. From the stuffed sole to the spicy Tuna roll. Roll on, guys, keep the hits coming!

This is the ultimate seafood restaurant in that nothing is frozen. Everything is flown in daily. There is a seafood market to the left as you enter the restaurant where they sell fresh fish and also have the various soups and salads from the restaurant available by the pint or quart. I've never had a bad meal here and we... More

My friend and I have been there several times and was fairly good.We were there March 11 and were extremely disappointed. Food was below average and our waitress was horrible. Asked for a Mojito and were told they no longer have them.

I have eaten here 4-5 times, with the most recent visit being March 13, 2015. On previous visits, I enjoyed fish and seafood cooked in a variety of ways. I am continually amazed at the breadth of the menu; from fried clam baskets to crab legs, there really is something for everyone, including people who would rather have meat or... More

In Des Moines for business and stopped in for dinner. The red snapper was excellent and the salmon cooked perfectly. One of the diners had dietary restrictions and the server handled it very well. Salad, sourdough bread and sides were excellent. Make sure to stop here and check out the fresh market on the other side of the restaurant.

We visited WDM over Christmas break & had to stop in for a bowl of clam chowder. Still one of the best anywhere! The Clam strips are excellent too! Stop in for a bowl~ you won't be disappointed!

Excellent food and very good service. Have been eating at this restaurant for many years. Have not been to the new restaurant but I would assume that it is just as good. The sushi was very good also.

The food itself is very good. Little on the pricey side but what can you expect for seafood? That restaurant is very quiet and a little stuffy and uncomfortable. And the wait staff/busboy station is right in the middle of the room so I could hear them all complaining about their jobs and talking about hoping to get off work... More
