My family has been going to the Steamboat for takeout or inside dining for over 40 years. It has been owned by the same family for generations; they call you by name. They have a special every day. For instance, Tuesdays are $1.00 tugboat tenderloins. Their Chief's salad is to die for! Homemade pies-need I say more?

Another Waterloo classic that has fallen and can't get back up. Much like Wishbone the name and memories of childhood meals are now just a fading memory. Gets by on name/rep only. Sorry to say better off at Wendy's.

I've been coming here for over 30 years. There's a nice variety of food and daily specials. The food is reasonably priced. It's a relaxed atmosphere.

This is your local hole in the wall restaurant that's the best. Some peoples reviews are bad. They must not get it. I've gone here since I was a kid. Of course a few things have changed but not much. The owner Joel is a great guy and if you have any problems he will make it right. Not many... More

A recent visit to this historic restaurant cancels out my previous review of the place. The waitress that served us has been there for ever and didn't blink an eye to serve us obviously bad food. She even said she wouldn't have eaten it either. And they make you feel really uncomfortable if you want to substitue items and that... More

If you were new to the area or just visiting you might just drive by and not think its a good place to stop and eat. Wrong! It's been a part of Waterloo for many years and has tons of regulars. Very good value and great tenderloins and onion rings!! Daily specials that are at a lower price too.

This used to be (and mind that I said used to) a great place to go for onion rings that were handmade and hambugers that were wonderfully unique with their fried onions. NOT ANYMORE - hamburger is horrible, onion rings are right out of the frozen bag they came in. Such a loss to the Cedar Valley.

Have you ever visited one of the Iowa tenderloin restaurants, and wanted just a little less than a head-sized sandwich? Here is the place you can get one of the best local tenderloins, in several sizes, and for a good price. It's a family cafe, not fancy, but quick.

When I visited Iowa in the past this was the place to come for Onion Rings. I must admit that they are no longer what they used to be. Had the Philly Chesse and that was not very good either. A very rustic place and atmosphere, by no means fancy, but the food used to be better, probaly will not... More
