Good food and service!

During our recent stay at the hotel we had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Saturday night is prime rib night and we each enjoyed the smaller cut of prime rib served to our liking, each meal came with our choice of two sides. During our recent stay at the hotel we had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. We ate a couple of meals in the restaurant - breakfast and dinner. As we were on a very limited budget we picked things that were the most reasonable and what we liked. I ordered an all around chocolate milk shake made the old fashioned way with real ice cream and stirred on the old style blenders. We ordered a... More

Last fall, 9 of us, several teens and adults found ourselves in Strawberry Point late at night and in need of a place to stay. We landed at the Franklin. Everyone was happy with the experience. The rooms are not luxurious but very comfortable and a deal at $55. After a good nights sleep for all, we had breakfast downstairs... More

Beautiful historic small town hotel, lovely dining room, friendly staff, and an excellent cheeseburger with a cold beer. What more could a tired traveler want? We stopped here on the way back from a canoe trip and had a wonderful meal in a really cool place.

Good food, low prices, and nice atmosphere. The people are friendly and not in a rush. Nice place to meet friends and have something to eat.

made it to breakfast before the sunday brunch rush, pancakes and bacon were the best restaurant breakfast i'd ever had! there was some long, drawn out waiting, but it wasn't too bad because there wasn't anyone else there when we were.

Your stepping back in time, to a small town hotel. It still has a lunch counter, it still has friendly service, but don't expect "fast". It looks like they have seating for many more people than were there when we were, with a walk in group of 8. Staff that evening looked like maybe 2-3? They were still very friendly.... More

We always like the food at the Franklin, however they never have enough waitresses to take care of the patrons. Service is usually VERY slow and it takes a long time just to get waited on. This in based on many experiences in the restaurant. If you are going without kids and have time to sit, and are very patient,... More

If you would like a little bit of history, the Franklin Hotel is a place for you. The owners have taken great care in restoring the old hotel to its former glory. The food is good down home country cooking with a friendly staff. Take a moment to stop by here for a cup of coffee of freshly made pie.... More

Returning from Dubuque to Ames, my spouse and I took "the scenic route" and drove through Strawberry Point, Iowa. There we decided to lunch at the local historic hotel, the The Franklin. This place has been beautifully kept and restored. An antique brass fixture (originally gas) hung from the dining room ceiling and the room also had some great art... More
