We were a little disappointed when we walked in here, because the quirky outside of the building was not matched by the décor inside. It's been remodeled through the years to the point of being very generic and blah. the food was ok - we got spaghetti. Lettuce salads left a bit to be desired - roughly chopped iceberg with... More

A group of 7 of us ate here on a cold and windy January evening. We were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant at approximately 6:00 pm. 2 people in my group ordered the corn fritters to share with all. Normally, the fritters are very good. When they arrived, it was obvious they'd been fried in dirty grease. On... More

When searching for a restaurant online, we read reviews. The reviews for this place were obviously put here by the restaurant. And no, I didn't see a trip advisor review when looking. Brought a party of 9. We were the only ones in the restaurant. The dining room and rest rooms were dirty, not dusty or well worn but dirty.... More

Have always liked Green Gables. Friendly staff, good food, not too huge portions. Love the matzo ball soup. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Been going here since I was very small. Was gone from Sioux City for 34 years, and now I'm back, I take my elderly parents (who always took me, back when) at least once a week.

From fun and unique ice cream treats: the Gosh Awful Gooey is a fave, to the Matza Ball soup, Chicken in the Gables and now their original corn fritter recipe has been found and resurrected. This is/was Dear Abby and Ann Landers' favorite hometown restaurant. Once you have been here, you will know why.

We are from out of town and spending 4 weeks in Sioux City, eating out a lot and trying different places. This place was mentioned numerous times and I imagine it was once a great place. Today, you enter the restaurant and the overwhelming smell makes you think that you are back in the house of that grandparent who never... More

OK, so the place hasn't been updated in probably 50 years; so what, adds to the ambiance. The matzo ball soup and hot fudge sundae are NOT to be missed.

We eat here at least once a month despite the very rude and sometimes down right ridiculous attitude from some of the waitresses and hostess. Retire already! They give you the feeling you're putting them out and forget the fact that they are a place of business. Some of the waitresses are very friendly, so I do feel bad saying... More

Today, my family went to Green Gables for Father's Day. The service was okay, and the food was decent. However, this restaurant seems to cater to the older, grandparent generation with its small food portions, very outdated decor, and older waitresses. What really ticked me off was that the hostess was extremely rude to my family, and didn't seem to... More
