This inn deserves its entry in the Michelin Guide

Wow! Outstanding lunch - black pudding starter, sea bass to follow. A superb menu with a twist. Located 2 mins drive off the A64 and we will certainly be back.....

We ate a Sunday lunch here. The menu is set and there is a choice of courses. The soup was lovely and the roast was good. The puddings were all excellent and it's worth going for the extra course. I had a rhubarb and orange brûlée which was delicious. They make their own ice-cream and have an excellent selection of... More

Not only was the food excellent, but the service was outstanding. One of our party has special requirements, and the waitresses were wonderful-quietly observant , attentive and aware of our needs. Nothing was too much trouble. Full marks all round.

Visited yesterday lunch for my Mums 80th and what a fantastic place. The restaurant was packed yet there was no compromise when it came to the food or the service. The Sunday lunch was amazing value for the quality, and we are already planning our return visit. Thanks for making it a special occasion

We visited the pub for my mums 80th birthday, all of the meals were suburb, the service was great. The restaurant was busy but we never had to wait very long for courses and when asked for more drinks they came immediately. We will definitely be back in the future Highly recommend

We've always been on Sunday lunchtimes before at it's been very good. This time it was the Monday evening between Christmas and New Year, so understandably quiet. All four of us enjoyed the food. I wasn't very hungry so just had a small portion of fish, chips and mushy peas. Small portion! They obviously cater for hard working farmers who... More

The Sun Inn is a pleasing reassurance that all is not bad in the British dining experience. I have passed this premises regularly over the last couple of years and made it a special treat being taken for my birthday. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting, the service and welcome were spot on, and the food is locally sourced, nicely... More

My husband and I have visited twice know and not been disappointed. The menu has something for everyone, some basic dishes but more unusual food that would not be out of place in a top class restaurant. Slightly more expensive than normal pub food but well worth the extra!

We were lucky to get in early on Saturday night, as the place was packed. Always a good sign. Nice big tables, really friendly staff and an interesting menu. We just had a main course each, but starters and desserts sounded great. I had Yorkshire fish tapas, which was tasty, other half had rabbit pie, which looked, and he said... More

We came upon Colton whilst driving in the area and decided to stop for lunch as the car park was well occupied - usually a good sign of a good eaterie. Spoilt for choice!! The menu had a good selection of starters, mains or light bites. The wines by the glass were also a good selection. The service was friendly... More
