Best Bakery Ever

Fresh Dutch baked goods and several others. They can also ship anywhere and the delicacies arrive intact, acc to staff. A Dutch "Letter" was about $2.50 each. Able to purchase other souvenirs as well.

Delicious dutch bakery. Specializing in the Dutch Letter (with almond paste). Too many tasty treats to speak of, but everything from bread to a Sugar Bee Hive (for the brave of heart and sweet tooth). They are a little more expensive than other bakery in town, but excellent quality. A must see when you travel to Pella. Located on the... More

We had cookies the first night we arrived - very reasonably priced and delicious. The wait can be long - try in late afternoon after the tour buses leave town.

I was on a business trip in Iowa and saw a sign for this place on the highway. I wanted to bring back something special for my wife and since we both enjoy exploring different cultures and food, I decided to stop by this place. First, it's nestled in a beautiful, historic downtown area. I read that the town was... More

I stop here every time I am in Pella. I love the coffee cakes, cookies, sweet rolls and just the way the bakery smells. Too bad we don't have this kind of bakery where I live! I would probably be fat!

Excellent bakery in Pella - senses overload with all the gorgeous aromas and sights. Dearly wish one would open up in Glasgow, Scotland then my Scottish family and friends would find out why I rave so much about Dutch Letters - yummy

First visited Jaarsma's (J pronounced as a y) in July 1971 when I came to meet my husband's parents. Just the smell when you walk in the door is worth the trip! The service is always polite and very good. The baked goods are amazing. My favorites, are of course, Dutch letters, along with puff pillows, melt away coffee cake... More

I always stop here. If only at least for one Danish. Their fruit pastries are great. Often, I bring home an entire bag. I've even been known to ride a motorcycle there from Des Moines for a bag of pastries.

If you are looking for wonderful pastries this is the place. Dutch letters and other pastries so light they almost float. They also have other souvenirs worth looking at. If your in Pella stop in and get a treat you will be happy you did.
