We've eaten here twice and have been happy each time. The dinner choices are limited but show truly excellent culinary imagination and skills. I'm looking forward to going back the first chance I get.

The small (but still good) menu offers burgers, sandwiches, and salads for less than $10. I enjoyed a cheeseburger with bleu cheese and fries. Buuuut the restaurant offers dinner specials on the pricier side ($35), such as rainbow trout lightly drizzled with something and served on a bed of something else or a slow cooked pork shoulder served with a... We had lunch twice at Lincoln Cafe and in both occasions we loved. Their BLT is served in a delicious bread, with home made mayo and the trout salad is great! Real lemonade is a treat. It is a small, but very busy cafe with a good selection of healthy dishes.

We stopped here after seeing the chef on TV. The food is innovative and locally grown. We had the grilled vegetarian sandwith with pesto walnut spread. One word....fabulous! If you are close to Mt. Vernon, you have to stop here. They do have call ahead seating, so call ahead for you WILL have a wait for a table. Mt. Vernon... More

It was with some trepidation--after a few less than glowing recent tripadvisor reviews--that I went back to Lincoln Cafe after a few years. But there was really nothing to fear: it was the same place I remembered so fondly. Lincoln Cafe is built on surprise and contradiction: it looks like a modest small-town diner/cafe. The plain little menu that is... More

We love Lincoln Cafe but given the relative small portion sizes and the relatively large size of my fiancé's appetite, I seldom get him in the door. Went last wknd with 3 couples for the September family dinner (monthly family style Sunday evening dinners with a theme). The theme was "Smoke" and the menu was awesome! The courses come out... More

We were back in Iowa and wanted to try/support a quality restaurant. The food/ambience/service were good, but the prices really are not appropriate for what you get. I'd read reviews of the small portions previously and just thought people were comparing it to crazy Iowa portions. They're not. The portions were ridiculously small, especially for what they charge. I have... More

As Lincoln Cafe's dinner entrees are unique and delicious, yet pricey; we go on rare occasion. Knowing it is often busy I called ahead for 7pm reservation. It was a completely full house with tables turning as soon as they emptied. We were seated less than 5 minutes past our time, to no concern of mine. Last night's food was... More

I was really looking forward to trying Lincoln Cafe, especially as I have heard so many rave reviews. We had an 815 reservation, arrived at 813, and were told they "got a little behind" and it would be "a few minutes." We were seated at 855; in fairness, they did give us a free appetizer, but still--Mount Vernon is not... More

I am lucky to live in a small town with such an amazing restaurant. There is always something for the more adventuresome in the group, as well as THE best burger and fries.
